Hi guys,

New to the forum, but i'm thinking about buying a TT for my next car.

I've owner a few jap cars, few mr2 turbos, 3000gt etc, but now want something different.

I loved the 3000gt, but i really want another rwd, so the 300 seems to be the way to go!

I'm assuming that it'll probably be the same kind of speed as the mr2 turbo i have currently which is fairly standard?

Well hopefully i'll have one soon but need to shift my current car first really!

Anyway,

I'm andy, 27, live in Horsham down south, hi!

Hello mate check out the for sale section. Stock for stock i would say the zed has the edge and with mild tuning the zed can reach 370-400 bhp.

yes too true, you get what you pay for. There is a lot to check and look out for with these cars. Bare in mind some are 20 years old loike mine is.

Welcome to the club mate, and another potential zed in Sussex. If you see any local that you need help with to look over, let me know, always glad to help.

welcome mate.good luck with your hunt.i allso had a gto tt nice car.you will love the Zed.go for a manual.

Welcome to the club Andy, Good luck with your search for a great zed!!

DaZ ;)

Welcome to the club mate!

Loads of good advice posted so far - just take your time and pick a nice one. Stock for stock a decent twin turbo "should" be quicker than an MR2 turbo; to 60 it's probably close but from 70+ the extra power and torque will give the Z a greater advantage......

There are one or two decent examples in the "for sale" section at the mo!

Richard;)

I have something to say............ It's better to burn out than to fade away..... :tt2:

Thanks for all the replies guys!

I am also on the manual opinion myself, have driven a few rep autos which are nice enough, but if you're buying a sports car, you need manual!

Unfortunate really as i had a guy really interested in a swap for my mr2 but his was an auto. Would already have a zed otherwise!

Auto or manual just buy the best car you can! The autos are not bad; they are on par performance wise with manuals but deliver the power "differently!" You can always convert it to manual later......

I drove a few of each when I was first looking and didn't really mind either; it just so happened that the best example was an auto. So I bought it - then when the time came to get rid I found another superb ZX; which also happened to be an auto!

It just happened that way.......;)

Good luck with your search mate!

i know that an auto can be fine, but i'm really a manual man, i like to be in control of my gears. I'm not in a massive rush so i'm gonna just take my time and find a decent manual.

One question i do have, has anyone has experience of driving both the lwb and swb versions and would like to share comparisons? I'm not interested in having people in the back, and will probably remove rear seats etc if i get a 2x2...

Welcome to the club.

I've had a SWB and 2 LWB's.

Tbh, i found the handling on the shorty to be alot "tighter".

The only other thing to look out for is i found the SWB to be quite restricted on the interior. But with the LWB, the drivers seat can move further back.

i am 6ft 4in and have a SWB.yes they are a bit restricted but it ent no prob for me.mind you i have recaros.that might help..

i have had two 2+2 and would still go with the SWB tt manual.i think its the best one to go for but thats just me.

welcome to the club

if i was getting another it would be a manual swb TT or a 99 manual 2+2. i would never have an auto again in this type of car cause IMO if my zed wasn't auto i think i could have stopped it from being smashed up, cause to stop an auto all you have is just the brakes at least a manual you can drop a few gogs to help

Ha Ha turn over drive off and then you have engine braking. I run mine with it off, then only motorways i have it on.
