A suggestion for a new section on the forum.....

..... or an extension to the 'contacts & Links' one.

I've not been part of this forum long, but have already noticed many posts with good recommendations on where to take your Z. Is there any chance we can have a section that lists them all (with customer satisfaction rating)and their locations displayed on the map? I'm in the South West and can't find anyone down here willing to even get their hands dirty before they see a wad of cash. They take one look in the engine compartment and laugh wildly as the pound signs dance in front of their eyes.

(places offering forum discount like in the 'wheel alignment' thread should definately be listed somewhere)

Thanks

Am all for that!

Would be nice to know where to go and who to trust.

I can tell you one not to trust, Kingshurst Auto's in Birmingham, OK while they are thorough in what they do, they charge twice what anybody else would charge, I know I was ripped-off for 7 (yes 7) road tests to fault find, cost me £160.23 (I have the reciept) I mean they had the pleasure of driving my car using my petrol and then told me it was a shed and said take it back to where you got it. I could have told them that before it went in there......Maybe it's my own fault then....LOL.....but I won't be going back.

God, I do go-on sometimes.....

Oi...Craig and Nico, Pull yer fingers out, This Map and rating idea is a good one.

Need any help doing it?

I agree, not slating craig/nico but ~80% of the members on this forum seem to be in IT and are willing to help with work.

I know I would be happy to implement extra stuff, slight problem i believe this site is hosted on unix and my perl skills are not great. i am however sorted with asp and can offer free nt hosting so if in agreement yets get some new features added.

Guys,

This maybe controversial, but i dont agree. I think the site works really well as it is.

If we start rating companies we could get into all sort of bother as the topic can be so subjective. The good/bad experience forum works really well as it is.

Am i the only one who thinks this??

Sorry to be a sour puss, keep things simple I say.

Eventhough some people in IT want to change things about, Craig and Nico have gone for the best option, plain yet effective simple layout, with fast download times. We don't all have super fast connections ;-).

I'm not directly linked in IT so from a users perspective i loooooove it as it is.

Yeah, I agree with George, I've had my fair share of shite experiences in only a few months of ownership so I think that the good/bad experience links were overdue. We have seen the kind of reaction that is generated when a supposed trader/company voices their side of the coin...and the backlash was immense!!!!

I would basically say that if you want people to recommend good places to go then just ask or use the people in the contacts section. Also take into account that while some people feel that they have not been treated well at company A others have not had any problems with company A.

It should be down to the individual to decide where they put their pride and joy for upgrades/repairs etc. But also take into account what everybody says on the forum and let that influence you to making the best decision.

Maybe add more people into the contacts section but I think that a permanent rating system will divide the masses straight down the middle! And that is not a good idea IMHO.

Variation on a theme:-

How much charged for certain jobs (clutch, wheel alignment etc) by certain garages/people in certain areas.

Comments guys????
