Hi,

I have a NA which has an oil pressure guage, measuring kg/cm2.

Could someone please advise what the normal measurements should be?

When I start the car, it reads between 4 and 6. Once it is warmed up, it idles at 2 (or less) but cruises at around 4.

When idle, if I rev the car, it increases to 4.

Is this normal?

The reason I ask is that I have had the car for nearly 5 months and I am sure that it used to nearly always remain around 2.

Could the weather have had an impact? Or do I have a problem?

Any feedback greatfully received.

the stock gauges arn't very accurate. the pressures you mention sound find, although maybe a little low when reving. the pressure will move in time to the rev's so, dont worry about that, it's normal.

might be worth taking off the oil sender and replacing it

theres a rough guide in the link below but, your sender will probably be on the other side of the engine with the cable facing downwards...

if you're really concerned about your pressures, you could always install an after market gauge.

Thanks. Sounds like the behaviour is normal then.

Yes - I don't think the gauge is so bad; it's just that the sender unit is known to pack up. A new unit is around £80 from MJP....

I have something to say............ It's better to burn out than to fade away..... :tt2:

Agree 100% - The gauge is fine, it will be the sender that is failing, I recently changed mine & now the gauge reads perfectly
