Man Made Climate Change - A Proven Fraud!

A brief explanation of the greenhouse effect, which is in no way comparable to what happens in greenhouses!

 

Without the effect, life on Earth wouldn't be possible as it would be too cold. Greenhouse gases absorb infra red radiation emitted from Earth and re-emit it in all directions, some back to earth some out to space. The greatest and most powerful greenhouse gas is simple water vapour, which accounts for more than 90% of the greenhouse effect. Computer models used for predicting future climate are hoplessly flawed when it comes to water vapour which is overlooked in favour of trace amounts of CO2, the same models predicted a barbecue summer last year and a mild winter this year! They are programmed with flawed enhanced positive feedback mechanisms for alarmism value.

 

Now to the common myth. Warmists will usually state that CO2 is a greenhouse gas so adding more and more must result in more and more heat reflected back to Earth. This is false. It is no more than a logical fallacy. Yes it is a mild greenhouse trace gas, but it saturates and has diminishing effects.

 

As a simplistic demonstration of the effects of CO2, imagine greenhouse gases in the atmosphere representing 10 duvets on your bed (9 for water vapour 1 for CO2/Methane/Nitrous oxide) (water vapour accounts for 90% of green house gases) whilst you're snug as a bug inside. Adding another duvet will make no difference, adding another 10,20,30 or more duvets will make no difference. So it is with CO2.

 

The effect of carbon dioxide on temperature is logarithmic and thus climate sensitivity decreases with increasing concentration. The first 20 ppm of carbon dioxide has a greater temperature effect than the next 400 ppm. Remember, atmospheric CO2 concentration is just 380 ppmv (0.038%) and of that amount less than 4% is of human origin. Reducing that 4% to 3% or even zero would have no effect whatsoever on global climate. Meanwhile, as I said before the oceans de-gas and re-sink CO2 at huge rates naturally, always following temperature never preceding it.

Breaking News: NASA Caught in Climate Data Manipulation;

 

At the risk of appearing obsessed with this scam, I felt I should post this as it is very important in debunking the lies that if left unchallenged would change our lives for the worse. Apart from being fundamentally wrong, fraud on this kind of Governmental scale fascinates me.

 

Following on from the CRU UEA climategate scandal, it appears GISS temperature data was manipulated as many thought. Perhaps suspicions as to why 2 other data sets correlated with a known fraud were not unfounded then.

 

"Climate researchers have discovered that NASA researchers improperly manipulated data in order to claim 2005 as "THE WARMEST YEAR ON RECORD." KUSI-TV meteorologist, Weather Channel founder, and iconic weatherman John Coleman will present these findings in a one-hour special airing on KUSI-TV on Jan.14 at 9 p.m. A related report will be made available on the Internet at 6 p.m. EST on January 14th at http://www.kusi.com.

 

In a new report, computer expert E. Michael Smith and Certified Consulting Meteorologist Joseph D'Aleo discovered extensive manipulation of the temperature data by the U.S. Government's two primary climate centers: the National Climate Data Center (NCDC) in Ashville, North Carolina and the NASA Goddard Institute for Space Studies (GISS) at Columbia University in New York City. Smith and D'Aleo accuse these centers of manipulating temperature data to give the appearance of warmer temperatures than actually occurred by trimming the number and location of weather observation stations."

I cannot condone some things that colleagues of mine wrote or requested in the e-mails recently stolen from a climate research unit at a British university. But the messages do not undermine the scientific case that human-caused climate change is real.

 

The hacked e-mails have been mined for words and phrases that can be distorted to misrepresent what the scientists were discussing. In a Dec. 9 op-ed, former Alaska governor Sarah Palin argued that "The e-mails reveal that leading climate 'experts' . . . manipulated data to 'hide the decline' in global temperatures." Yet the e-mail she cites was written in 1999, just after the warmest year ever recorded (1998) to that date. It could not possibly have referred to the claim that global temperatures have declined over this decade -- a claim that is false (the current decade, as has been recently reported, will go down as the warmest on record).

 

In one case, professor Phil Jones of the University of East Anglia refers to a "trick" regarding temperature data that he attributes to an article that co-authors and I published in the journal Nature in 1998. We showed one up-to-date temperature data set from thermometer measurements along with a longer data set, based on calculations from natural "proxy" records such as ice cores, corals and tree rings, that ended in 1980. The "trick" (by which scientists generally mean a clever solution, i.e., a "trick of the trade") was that the longer-term record could be viewed in the context of recent temperature measurements.

 

 

There was nothing secret about this. Both temperature curves were clearly labeled in our Nature article, and anyone could download the data we plotted. The National Academy of Sciences reviewed this work in 2006 in a study reported by this newspaper ["Past Few Decades Warmest on Record, Study Confirms," news story, June 23, 2006]. Members of the peer-review panel said that they "saw nothing that spoke . . . of any manipulation" and that the study was "an honest attempt to construct a data analysis procedure."

 

In the same e-mail, Jones uses the phrase "hide the decline" in reference to work by tree-ring expert Keith Briffa. Because tree-ring information has been found to correlate well with temperature readings, it is used to plot temperatures going back hundreds of years or more. Briffa described a phenomenon in which the density of wood exhibits an enigmatic decline in response to temperature after about 1960. This decline was the focus of Briffa's original article, and Briffa was clear that these data should not be used to represent temperatures after 1960. By saying "hide the decline," Jones meant that a diagram he was producing was not to show those data during the unreliable post-1960 period.

 

The conspiracy theories about the e-mails are fueled in part by their criticisms of the quality of two papers regarding global warming and a suggestion that at least one of the papers be kept out of an Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change report. As Nature noted in a recent editorial, neither the e-mail writers nor the IPCC suppressed any findings. Both papers were included in the IPCC's report. Some statements in the stolen e-mails reflect poor judgment -- for example, a colleague referring to deleting e-mails that might be subject to a Freedom of Information Act request -- but there is no evidence that this happened.

 

Palin wrote that Alaska's climate is changing but referred to "thawing permafrost and retreating sea ice" as "natural, cyclical environmental trends." In fact, such changes are among the effects scientists predicted would occur as greenhouse gas levels increase. Scientific evidence for the reality of human-caused climate change includes independently replicated data documenting the extent of warming; unprecedented melting of glaciers; rises in global sea levels; increasingly widespread continental drought; and models that predict all of these things but only when human impacts are included. Those same models project far more profound and potentially damaging impacts of climate change if we do not take action to stabilize greenhouse gas levels.

 

The scientific consensus regarding human-caused climate change is based on decades of work by thousands of scientists around the world. The National Academy of Sciences has concluded that the scientific case is clear. As world leaders work in Copenhagen to try to combat this problem, some critics are seeking to cloud the debate and confuse the public.

i fully understand the point he is making above, PR companies do it every day for their clients but there was more to it than just the odd quote out of context...lots more...as per he gives no comment into the tree rings data....fundemental and important stuff it cant be avoided....he still bangs on saying there is consensus....no there isnt....he loses all credibility on doing/saying such things...when reading the above i cant quite forget this quote "As we all know, this isn’t about truth at all; it’s about plausibly deniable accusations."...he just fulfilled that one by responding in this way...integrity is easy to loose, very Hard to Restore

 

 

personally i may change my mind one day but to be honest its a case of men in white coats saying they know best and how dare you think otherwise...no real and proper scientist (in my eyes) would respond in this way or act they way they did in dealing with those who dont follow their narrow agenda, Mann does not (want to) understand the difference between science that has been critically reviewed and science that has been Buddy Reviewed (by others who share his view).

The fact is there is only a tiny number of scientists behind the man made global warming fraud, but you mistakenly believe there's more because of the sheer scale of the propaganda you've been constantly bombarded with on the TV every day, all of which can be thoroughly debunked with real science and facts. But please post up your list of supporting scientists anyway.

You haven't supplied 30,000 scientists, you've provided a link to a somewhat unconvincing site with no scientific credibility which says 30,000 scientists have signed a pettition. It's all a bit tin foil hat / ranting.

 

I can post up credible looking links claiming milk give you cancer but of course it's not true.

My four closest friends all have science PhDs and work in scientific fields. My father is a university professor in a scientific subject, he was the youngest person to chair a government scientific committee and he recently got an OBE for his work.

 

I've asked all of them about this subject and they're all 100% certain man made climate change is very real.

 

I could get them to post on here / come round your house and tell you* but I don't think you'll believe them, just as I don't believe conspiracy sites.

That's true Tmttp, that's why myself and others investigate the stories and nonsense pumped out by Main Stream Media, and prove they are all nonsense. From melting Ice Caps, to Acidification of the Oceans, to Flooding of the Maldives, to Diminishing Polar Bear numbers, to controlling temperature rises, to the Gulf Stream causing cooling etc etc... ALL proven nonsense!!

 

I think the worst I've seen was the awful CO2 experiment on Newsnight by a so called scientist, which was meant to convince a gullible audience that AGW is real! That experiment was thoroughly dismantled and blown to smitherines by proper scientists demonstrating it's nonsense, but it had live TV coverage and no doubt many people will have bought into it.

 

But most importantly, the very science behind global warming theory is flawed, so much so that real scientists refer to it as junk science theory. AGW theory relies on expensive computer models programmed with voodoo science and exagerated effects of CO2, under estimated effects of water vapour and clouds, and magic the whole thing together with exagerated positive feedback mechanisms. Proper scientists - physicists, chemists, astro physicists etc became involved when their disgust of this voodoo junk science being peddled to the world as fact became overwhelming.

Therefore, there is no sound reason to impose expensive and restrictive public policy decisions on the peoples of the Earth without first providing convincing evidence that human activities are causing dangerous climate change beyond that resulting from natural causes. Before any precipitate action is taken, we must have solid observational data demonstrating that recent changes in climate differ substantially from changes observed in the past and are well in excess of normal variations caused by solar cycles, ocean currents, changes in the Earth's orbital parameters and other natural phenomena.

 

We the undersigned, being qualified in climate-related scientific disciplines, challenge the UNFCCC and supporters of the United Nations Climate Change Conference to produce convincing OBSERVATIONAL EVIDENCE for their claims of dangerous human-caused global warming and other changes in climate. Projections of possible future scenarios from unproven computer models of climate are not acceptable substitutes for real world data obtained through unbiased and rigorous scientific investigation.

 

Specifically, we challenge supporters of the hypothesis of dangerous human-caused climate change to demonstrate that:

 

1.Variations in global climate in the last hundred years are significantly outside the natural range experienced in previous centuries;

2.Humanity’s emissions of carbon dioxide and other ‘greenhouse gases’ (GHG) are having a dangerous impact on global climate;

3.Computer-based models can meaningfully replicate the impact of all of the natural factors that may significantly influence climate;

4.Sea levels are rising dangerously at a rate that has accelerated with increasing human GHG emissions, thereby threatening small islands and coastal communities;

5.The incidence of malaria is increasing due to recent climate changes;

6.Human society and natural ecosystems cannot adapt to foreseeable climate change as they have done in the past;

7.Worldwide glacier retreat, and sea ice melting in Polar Regions , is unusual and related to increases in human GHG emissions;

8.Polar bears and other Arctic and Antarctic wildlife are unable to adapt to anticipated local climate change effects, independent of the causes of those changes;

9.Hurricanes, other tropical cyclones and associated extreme weather events are increasing in severity and frequency;

10.Data recorded by ground-based stations are a reliable indicator of surface temperature trends.

 

It is not the responsibility of ‘climate realist’ scientists to prove that dangerous human-caused climate change is not happening. Rather, it is those who propose that it is, and promote the allocation of massive investments to solve the supposed ‘problem’, who have the obligation to convincingly demonstrate that recent climate change is not of mostly natural origin and, if we do nothing, catastrophic change will ensue. To date, this they have utterly failed to do so.

To the attention of the Honorable Madam Angela Merkel, Chancellor of Germany

 

When one studies history, one learns that the development of societies is often determined by a zeitgeist, which at times had detrimental or even horrific results for humanity. History tells us time and again that political leaders often have made poor decisions because they followed the advice of advisors who were incompetent or ideologues and failed to recognize it in time. Moreover evolution also shows that natural development took a wide variety of paths with most of them leading to dead ends. No era is immune from repeating the mistakes of the past.

 

Politicians often launch their careers using a topic that allows them to stand out. Earlier as Minister of the Environment you legitimately did this as well by assigning a high priority to climate change. But in doing so you committed an error that has since led to much damage, something that should have never happened, especially given the fact you are a physicist. You confirmed that climate change is caused by human activity and have made it a primary objective to implement expensive strategies to reduce the so-called greenhouse gas CO2. You have done so without first having a real discussion to check whether early temperature measurements and a host of other climate related facts even justify it.

 

A real comprehensive study, whose value would have been absolutely essential, would have shown, even before the IPCC was founded, that humans have had no measurable effect on global warming through CO2 emissions. Instead the temperature fluctuations have been within normal ranges and are due to natural cycles. Indeed the atmosphere has not warmed since 1998 – more than 10 years, and the global temperature has even dropped significantly since 2003.

 

Not one of the many extremely expensive climate models predicted this. According to the IPCC, it was supposed to have gotten steadily warmer, but just the opposite has occurred.

 

More importantly, there's a growing body of evidence showing anthropogenic CO2 plays no measurable role. Indeed CO2's capability to absorb radiation is already exhausted by today's atmospheric concentrations. If CO2 did indeed have an effect and all fossil fuels were burned, then additional warming over the long term would in fact remain limited to only a few tenths of a degree.

 

The IPCC had to have been aware of this fact, but completely ignored it during its studies of 160 years of temperature measurements and 150 years of determined CO2 levels. As a result the IPCC has lost its scientific credibility. The main points on this subject are included in the accompanying addendum.

 

In the meantime, the belief of climate change, and that it is manmade, has become a pseudo-religion. Its proponents, without thought, pillory independent and fact-based analysts and experts, many of whom are the best and brightest of the international scientific community. Fortunately in the internet it is possible to find numerous scientific works that show in detail there is no anthropogenic CO2 caused climate change. If it was not for the internet, climate realists would hardly be able to make their voices heard. Rarely do their critical views get published.

 

The German media has sadly taken a leading position in refusing to publicize views that are critical of anthropogenic global warming. For example, at the second International Climate Realist Conference on Climate in New York last March, approximately 800 leading scientists attended, some of whom are among the world's best climatologists or specialists in related fields. While the US media and only the Wiener Zeitung (Vienna daily) covered the event, here in Germany the press, public television and radio shut it out. It is indeed unfortunate how our media have developed - under earlier dictatorships the media were told what was not worth reporting. But today they know it without getting instructions.

 

Do you not believe, Madam Chancellor, that science entails more than just confirming a hypothesis, but also involves testing to see if the opposite better explains reality? We strongly urge you to reconsider your position on this subject and to convene an impartial panel for the Potsdam Institute for Climate Impact Research, one that is free of ideology, and where controversial arguments can be openly debated. We the undersigned would very much like to offer support in this regard.

IIRC all this is data they used on temps back in the 60's & 70's relied upon something like over 6000 weather stations.....now owing to progress/cutbacks/centralisation/wars/changes in govt's etc we are down to 1000 for this data.....bit like comparing apples with oranges dont you think?

interesting to see the malarial bit mentioned in the letter above, i was reading last night that Oliver Cromwell (1640's) had malaria after living in the Fens!......and in another of my british history book the north kent coast in the 1700's were almost completley uninhabited as they too were malerial and so made a great secret hide away / landing spots for the smuggling gangs.......and today....all gone! :D

Washington, DC - In the face of rising unemployment and record-breaking deficits, policy experts at the National Center for Public Policy Research are criticizing the Obama Administration for awarding a half million dollar grant from the economic stimulus package to Penn State Professor Michael Mann, a key figure in the Climategate controversy.

 

"It's outrageous that economic stimulus money is being used to support research conducted by Michael Mann at the very time he’s under investigation by Penn State and is one of the key figures in the international Climategate scandal. Penn State should immediately return these funds to the U.S. Treasury," said Tom Borelli, Ph.D., director of the National Center's Free Enterprise Project.

 

Professor Mann is currently under investigation by Penn State University because of activities related to a closed circle of climate scientists who appear to have been engaged in agenda-driven science. Emails and documents mysteriously released from the previously-prestigious Climate Research Unit at the University of East Anglia in the United Kingdom revealed discussions of manipulation and destruction of research data, as well as efforts to interfere with the peer review process to stifle opposing views. The motivation underlying these efforts appears to be a coordinated strategy to support the belief that mankind's activities are causing global warming.

I think the main problem is for every "Fact" pointing towards or against climate change there will always be another "Fact" saying its complete *****cks.

 

Truth is unless your the one compiling the data you'll never know the truth ;)

Two sensible statements (although, as I've previously said, I personally don't believe any of the man made climate change propaganda shoved in our faces at every opportunity;)). The reality is, you and I will never know the real truth; we can simply just make up our own minds from what "evidence" is presented to us.
