Just thought I'd run this one past you lot and see what your thoughts are......
I was sat here this afternoon at home when I received a phone call......
Now the caller called me by name and introduced himself and the company who he worked for, and explained that they were a debt Management company, and in the current climate.....the Government is trying to help people.... etc, etc, etc! Would I be of need of their services? Well basically I'm not, but I was curious as to where he'd obtained my name and phone number, as well as my address, as I'd not given it to anyone like that recently. He explained that it was on a list of people who might be in that sort of position  I said thank you, but no thanks and that ended the conversation without any problems. Now I had enquired about a loan at the beginning of the year, but decided not to go ahead with it, so that's the only thing I could think of.
About 20 minutes later I received another phone call from a woman this time, who again already knew my name, phone number and address, and was also asking if I was in need of the same sort of thing, but this was a different company name! This time she stated that I had two credit cards and a store card!
When I asked her how the hell she had all my details she became defensive, trying to state that they were on a 'List' again, and would I be interested, and tried to point out the merits of her company, at which point I stopped her and became quite annoyed that they had my financial details like this  Now before I could get her to repeat her name and company again she just hung-up on me (number withheld on 1471)
Now my question is how the bloody hell can anyone have my details like this? and, as I don't have either of the company details, how can I check it out?
Anyone know anything to help?
TIA
Dave
