Hello everyone :P Im just curious what the oil pressure should be on a jap tt model. My car has the kg/cm3 gauge. Thanks in advance.

Don't forget also the stock gauge sender unit is unreliable and wears in such a way that at low hot rpm it can look like you have zero oil pressure. The oil pumping system is also such that excess oil pressure is bled away by a relief valve anyway so as not to damage seals on the engine. Some people mistake high oil pressure and thick oil as a good thing when the important thing is enough oil of the right grade for the engine's needs. The oil cooler system also only sees oil going through the oil cooler when the pressure exceeds a certain point or above about 3000rpm. You can prove it to yourself by having a feel at the oil cooler through the front vent after a hard drive - with care obviously! With gentle low rpm driving hardly any oil goes through the oil cooler and it will be stone cold.

thanks, i use 10w40 semi synthetic but i just bought the car and the stock needle was showing around 4 at first and now ist near zero. I checked the oil and it was full but I just wanted to make sure the oil pump was pumping as I dont want fried turbos or pistons on the engine that was just put in by zedworld.

Just open the filler cap and look inside while its idling - You should see plenty of oil flooding over the cam lobes.

I will give that a try tomorrow when its daylight. Just as an update to my previous post when starting for the first time of the day the gauge reads about 6kg/cm3. When it first reaches warm (needle on temp gauge a little less than halfway) it drops to about 3-4kg/cm3. When driving distances, over 10 miles for example, the gauge will read about 1kg/cm3. Note these are not sudden drops but then again im not looking constantly at the guage while driving.

What you are seeing is classic for the Nissan sender when it has a bit of wear in the carbon track. You either just get used to the fact that it is a bit variable and under reading when the oil is hot or you change it for a new Nissan one or add an aftermarket one as a back up.

If you do a search you'll find its debated to death.
