Oil leaks

Dripping oil and smoke from the exhaust alerted the owner of this zed to a problem.

Smoking away as it was put on the ramp the “oil drip” was soon revealed as a gusher but from an odd place behind the front bumper. Well of course the oil cooler is locate there and initial thoughts were it maybe related to that, but once the panels were removed the amount of oil splatter and the area effective eliminated the cooler, further investigation revealed the oil was coming from the dump valves !!

Now suspecting something worse than originally thought the offside inter cooler was removed and a gush of oil poured out !! see the pictures below and yes it turned out bad news for the owner as the engine was damaged internally rather than just turbo`s like he had thought, so a quick engine replacement on he was on his way.

Oh and the alarmingly big horn units did not work well after all of that oil so replaced them with more appropriate items i.e. not for a truck!!

At least the dump valves had ONE use here. About the only decent one there is for them! Shame it was to highlight nasty internal damage.
