Didnt unplug anything, just removed pads, unbolted caliper and carefully moved out of way, removed disc, replaced with new, replaced caliper and pads

theres no fluid leaks, pedal is hard as if it would be if engine wasnt running

Also when i press brake there is a loud clicking coming from the centre console area, like a relay:confused:

You will if its an auto, its the solenoid that allows you to put the selector into gear

I get a click to take it out of park when i put my foot on brake but this click is much louder and happens every time i press pedal even in drive. Have had the car 9 years so prob would have noticed it by now if it had always been there.

Pedal is solid aswell like when the engine isnt running and the servos not on:headvswal

You will get the click everytime, you put your foot on the brake as it makes contact with the release switch, however if its louder than normal and you havent heard it before then you might have a faulty relay or solenoid, i personally havent had this problem before and i am surprised it has happened just by changing the discs and pads, the only other thing i can think of is a seized piston in your calipers. Unlikely i know especially as you would have to release the line pressure to get the new brake pads in, but you could have had some grit thats worked its way in somehow.

A pain in the ass, but i would suggest taking the caliper off again and checking that the pistons are moving ok, it must have been something that has happened somewhere in the process of changing all the bits.

Sorry i cant be more specific, but its one of those process of elimination situations

have you possibly twisted the flexi hoses on re-assembly? also if the abs light is on you might have stretched an abs sensor cable which may have damaged it internally. the hard pedal sounds like lack of servo assistance...strange one, good luck

is there a relay that controls the brakes? and if yes were the f$%K is it

Paul.

I think you might have to retrace your steps!

Take the pads back out and see if the pistons are moving when you press the pedal.

Also did you bleed the fluid as you pressed back the pistons or was there space in the reservoir for when the level rose back in there? You might have pressurised the reservoir and its causing the servo not to work and the abs to see it as a brake system fault.

Checked that aswell, when i changed discs the pads were already new so didnt really have to move pistons back more than 1mm to get pads back in when swapped discs which is making me all the more baffled:confused:

Paul.

Could you have coggled a piston? If they are forced back and there is any corrosion on a piston then one or more could have jammed. It still might be worthwhile to take to pads out and see if the pedal goes freely down. Obviously it will if any piston is moving and means fluid is moving. Do one pad at a time to check if that pair of pistons is moving freely then push them back all the way into the caliper. If one piston moves too freely then jam in a small piece of wood so that the pressure all goes to the other of the pair.

maybe you have damaged one of the ABS sensor at the frontwheels.

or it could be coincidence and the ABS computer has gone mad for some reason.

Or maybe one of the ABS fuses is out. (there are several, in the fusible link box, the relay box and footwell panel)
