Right...

This is what it has come to.

Do i go ahead with a engine swap? Or do i go with a Honda NSX?

Engine swap:

Had my 300 about 6 years now, i have some nice parts which i will be using, Bride Gias carbon seats, takata harnesses, Defi gauges, Quaife diff etc. etc. Because of this whole garage saga i dont want them to get the better of me and try to turn the car into something special and unique. I think for myself i need to get it done. There are several engine i could consider RB30, LS1, Nissan V8, V12 from a BMW 850I csi, i'm sure there are other engines i could consider. I think the 300zx will be faster than what ever i do to the NSX. I also like the idea of a road legal track car, compleltly gutted and striped with a full roll cage.

Honda NSX:

Maybe it is time to move on, start again from scratch. A Honda NSX is a great looking car. They only have 270bhp however they have supeior handling and a better power to weight ratio, torquie engine, build quality is all hand built. 0-60 figures are around 5-5.7sec depending on spec. In stock form i dont think they will be quicker enough however with a turbo kit you can get them upto 550bhp at the rear wheels. They are also one of the most rare japanese cars availible.

I am stuck between the two options. Really don't know what to do.

One day i'm like yeah lets get the 300 finally sorted up and running. Then another day im like it is time to move on and getting a NSX will be a real head turner and unique.

What to do???

o0o0o Honda NSX would be an amazing car to own mate!

I think you should maybe take a time out from zeds as your heart still might not be in it for another one. Then come back to them in the near future?

Im the same as you.........one day i think get the car repaired the next im like no dont be daft break it and sell, then im like well buy a house and with a garage and store it.lol.

So at the moment im actually searching for a house where i could have a garage and store the zed for another day(attempt to repair myself)

House is now my main priority so the zed wont be getting fixed anytime soon i dont think.

Good luck on what you do and choose what your head says not your heart.lol!

tough choice mate but it would be interesting to hear comments on how the NSX outperforms/underperforms the 300 from the mouth of an experienced owner.

I have been on the Honda nsx owners club.

The option i would be going for is a targa manual.

I want a NA1 which is the shaper with lift up lights. I would also like a 3.2 model which they only made them for a couple of years before the facelift came out. Think a 3.2 would be a good base model to work with as the Honda website reads they are stronger and better components and hopefully able to hold a turbo running lower boost until needing a rebuild.

On the other note, I think the 300zx is a lovely looking car, my plans for it are a tasty kit, almost there how i want it look wise. It would be good to get it done for myself. I think the NSX is the logical route but i'm concerned if I don't do my 300 i will always look back on it and wonder what if... how would it actually been... I could get a nsx anytime, i could do the 300 then decide i want a nsx and i could sell it and get one then but if i just get a nsx then i would never known what the 300 would of been like.

If i did do the 300 it would be running big bhp as i want something mega fast.

The Nsx wont ever be the road legal track car i want as they are a supercar and i cant really get that look even if i wanted as there is nothing to remove and any room for a roll cage.

Been thinking about the two options for over a month now and still not sure what way to go.

i think you should do as you have just suggested, do the zed now and if you still yearn for an nsx then at least you will experienced the zed you wanted and wont be left wondering WHAT IF,,,.

Talk to Boomin33 on here - i played golf with then guy the other week - really nice bloke (who happened to kick my arse at golf, but the less said about that the better:cry:).

But more importantly for this thread, he has a track prepped 300zx (check out his rides - very nice car) and a honda NSX so i reckon he could give you a pretty fair and experienced comparison of the two.

for my two pennies worth - i love the Zed but the NSX is stunning - even rarer and more of a head turner.

I have spoken to Boomin and he has kindly said i am welcome to have a look over his nsx.

He also said get the nsx.

Allot of nsx owners have had both nsx and a 300. they all say get the nsx but they would as they own one.

The 300zx is more for myself, saying i finally got there in the end. I am ambitious and dont like being defeated as it really bugs me.

If i did do the 300zx my plans for it would be mega awesome, would certainly be something special.

think you would be daft not to get the nsx mate!

Go buy a complete stage 6 engine from import parts pro and start enjoying things a bit!

Sounds to me like you already know what you want to do in your heart, but you want a bit of convincing so, get the Zed done - enjoy, and then if you still want the NSX then you can.

i havent even read any of the comments its a Honda NSX for me.:D

dan.

Thing is mate, if you stayed with the Zed, this would be now the 3rd time of wanting to build something special.

It ain't worked out for you twice now and both times due to garages involved, so with that in mind who would you fully trust to do it for you without fear in your mind of the same happening again?

So with those thoughts, 1st choice has gotta be sell the lot! and then buy the Honda.

2nd choice, sell every engine part you have except turbo's, with the money you would have, buy a complete full and very high spec engine from the awesome Kyle puckett in the US and fit that which Zedworld would chuck in no bother.

Then your left to find a decent mapper again.

I think that for what you want to have a zed achieve power wise, your wasting your time here in the UK, sozzz

I rather do a engine swap now. my VG engine and all the problems with the garage have made me think twice about doing it. Need something totally special and unique.

If i pick the right engine for the engine swap i could have something rather special.

NSX all the way!! much nicer lokin car probably more reliable too you wont get bored of it, i would have one tomorrow if i could!

If your defo doing an engine swop its goto be an RB. Theres a black zed on youtube with one and OOOOOOHHHHHHH my god its nice!!!!!

Or get the corvette engine put it!

Jesus mate your a glutten for punishement.

An engine transplant will involve a fair amount of work and to get it to run right, so your gonna put masses of faith in yet another project with a garage.

If you even think in the slightest about this, you MUST find a suitable garage 1st and speak with them before wasting your time and effort.

Of course you need to sell all the Zed engine parts you have to fund this and cos they ain't any use to you any more.

Really for a no nonsense and far less worry approach about any garage you use, a very high build gauranteed engine from the US, order it, fit it and turn your key and go, simple as that :)

Buy the right spec and it will be different and of course that's where the appearance comes in to it to make it unique.......

TO be honest mate................your well better off with the NSX, take a b reak from trying to do the tuning and get a car your going to enjoy then in the future come back to the tuning its the best way!! Will make you happy again once your being nice and flashy in your nsx!

NSX 3.0 are the ones to tune. Some thing todo with iron internal parts and there cheaper to turbo or super charge for that reason. I love the NSX na1 or 2.

If i may i would like to offer my thoughts, please remember these are only thoughts.

It does not really matter what you do to a 300zx in terms of tuning. You will never make your hard earned money back once you want to sell. And in most cases you will loose a large % from the cars value, especially if you use another engine from another car. Although no one is arguing that you would enjoy the extra performance.

Now to the wonderful NSX, wow! now this car is worth 5-7 times that of a Nissan 300zx. I would say tuning this car in anyway has to be done with the full backing of a reputable NSX company. If not your NSX will be unsaleable.

So why not if space allows, keep the 300zx and buy a NSX as well. Then you will have two of the best Japanese supercars to grace our roads.

But if you have to make a choice of the two and have the cash, go for the NSX.
