GuyZ,

Just been flicking through the posts on z32.org website (another excellent Z site) and came accross this little number...

I've been reading that Nissan screwed up big time with 90-91 engines with 1990 being really bad efforts.

Comments?

May explain some of this shite I've had to endure with my Z and point others in the right direction?

Hope this is informative...

This guy's site is fantastic, go to the home link at the bottom and there are some excellent TSB's on there. Is all this stuff in the manual that a certain person put on here or are these behind closed door Nissan jobbies?

Quite a few obvious causes for shitty idle problems like using the wrong OIL! Well I never, my car had oil change just before I got it by the garage I bought it off...who knows, the mind boggles!

These cars only need you to sneeze in their general direction and they catch Beijing Killer Flu by the sounds of it.

Oh well, keep soldiering on I suppose...

I think the 'soft valve' problem was mainly on US cars, due to the additives in their home produced fuel

Hi Tim,

Yep, you're right. The 1990 model had its passenger side (near side) head machined wrong - hence the splined joint between the CAS and the exhaust cam wore prematurely causing hesitation problems that only get worse. The only proper fix for this (apparently) is to replace the head(£££££££)!
