6.5"(depending on manufacturer model etc as baskets can vary in width/depth) should go in usually with minimum effort. As for best depends on you budget.....£50 or £2000 depends what you want out of them. Focals, JL audio,dls and cdt do very well in the budget range up to £250 and also above in their higher end stuff

to be honest i dont fancy putting a sub box in the car ,so a good set of speakers that produce bass and clear , would be what im after

A set of Alpine DDdrive's would be good for you, excellent quality and a very nice bass, i know there a few years old now but still excellent speakers.
