Recently noticed grey/black smoke coming from my car, and the rear bumper is covered in soot.

Also the exhaust tips are really heavily coated in soot.

I guess the z is over fueling, how can i test for this [other than seeing the black bitzs all over the back of the car:x:] and resolve it??

Yup knackerd O2's, mine dosent smoke, but the tips are full of black crud. and both mine are dead............:mac1:

Mine is the same, give the ol' girl a nice clean, go for a drive and the rear bumper is covered in little black spots!!! My 300 runs fine, no issues with boost, maybe a little overfuelling, and am sure the o2 sensors are fine.

Al.

Do you have dump valves fitted? Can cause very rich conditions when they vent off.

Also, I leave the safety maps in so if det sensor has a fault it will run very rich too.

my car has been overfueling since i put it back together,

im talking re-dicalous mpg, (duno how to spell that lol)

mine was 6.5% on the CO emmissions, (nearly double over)

2 new o2/lambdas sorted it right out :)

would faulty lambdas cause a fuel smell as well as poor mpg?

Yep, as long as the smell is coming from the rear of the car, and my MPG was shocking when mine were shot :D

No dump valves fitted!

Does any body no how to interpret readings on the consult to see if it is a det sensor fault or if it is theo2 sensors:confused:

if the o2 sensors are gone, it will over fuel.

both technically, within the ECU,

and phsically, (black smoke, petrol smell, bad mpg)

conZult shows if the o2 sensors are working correcly, (they need to fluctuate on the reading)

not sure about the det sonsor bit

Getting all of above, plus put her on my consult and the readings do fluctuate!

I do remember reading some where that it might not be the actual sensors but poss loom, am i correct??

by loom, they mean the connectons on the o2 sensors dirty/not seated correclty.

the readings are suppost to fluctuate, but you are suppost to keep the car on 2000rpm,

then the left & right sensor reading are suppost to shoot left & right rarther dramatically, rarther than just slowly fluctuate a little bit.

il find a thread on here which shows you now....
