I am getting the occasional light smoking from what i think is the ns exhaust though it may be both, when I see the smoke, I try to detect it and it disappears.

I have been advised to leave it on the forum, enjoy the car basically, but I would like to know the cost of replacing the turbo oils seals????Anybody down south that can do it. ???

if you have any space and spanners (?) pull the engine and do it yourself mate, you'll learn loads and get the best opportunity ever to do all the other jobs like rear oil seal, det sensor, water bypass, engine mounts, cam belt, water pump etc etc

if it goes to a garage its min £500 just for the pull plus what you spend on the tubs, if its a recon job then get stepped seals less likely to fail/leak. as above if you do the job yourself then the £500 saved on pulling can go on buying a 60k service kit and bits n bobs etc, at least you have peace of mind its been done. my fear is you send it off for a pull and tub recon you'll need other bits doing soon after and wished you'd done the other jobs at the same time. its a false economy to just do the tubs if the engines coming out unless you are 100% deffo the other stuff has been done very recently.

cheers

Hey, thanks for that reply. I dont really have the space to do the job. Just looking for a resonably priced garage quote, incase the seals are leaking...

Yup - an expensive job to remove the engine.....

......and whilst you're doing it then why not replace all those niggly buts Uno refers to above. Plus if you're removing the turbos; why not do a full recon rather than just replace the oil seals!

As you have previously been advised, if the car runs good; boosts well and does not consume much oil, leave it alone! The occasional puff of blue smoke is just inconvenient and not a real problem!!

I have something to say............ It's better to burn out than to fade away..... :tt2:

Going to take out my engine, where is the best place to buy all the seals and gaskets from??

was reading zed world earlier and it said that if PCV valves are faulty this can cause occasional smoke too. Im gonna get myself conzult cos im sure ive got a few gremlins in my engine

does it smoke at idle when hot? cold? or any time.

or does it only smoke when driven etc?

daz.
