I noticed that most of you with Kuwaiti offshore bank accounts to play with in your spare time have done things with your turbochargers.

When you mention 360 degree thrust bearings, what does this mean? Are these new uprated turbos from Garrett or someone else etc.?????

I know that the TT has relatively small turbos compared to Supra TT's, is this why most people upgrade?

Appreciate any advice and where you can get them from etc.

Tim,

Just a quick few points.

The Z has t23 / t25 turbos as stock this is a indication of the size of the compressor wheels to the housing. They run on a single contact thrust bearing which is a fairly fragile form of bearing contact.

The 360 thrust bearing is basically the same but has full contact with the shaft thus making it harder to destroy or seize. The 360 TB is a common upgrade but actually makes the spool up slower as their is more contact - by how much im not sure not a lot you will have to ask the people that have them for a better idea.

If you want bigger turbos without N20 go with either t25 / t28 upgrade or even better the HKS gt2530 upgrade which is full ball bearing meaning they are not thrust bearing they are steel ball bearing cartridge systems which are both stronger and quicker to spool than thrust bearings. but more Expensive.

The t28 upgrade which the americans like is not too common on UK or japanese cars as they don't have the sort of roads capable of using the power they give while being able to live with the loooong spool up time. IMO i would avoid these.

Not sure what Size Supra turbos are but they are not a lot larger than ours. The thing with supras is they run sequential turbos rather than parallel like the ones on the Z this means they have different options when upgrading. High hp supras often have single turbos.

Hope that gives ya a few quick insites.
