Electrical problems and water ingress go hand in hand on any car and no less the zed especially with targa roofs.

Many owners have experience some level of water leak from the targa / door seals but in the vast majority of cases it is obvious as it shows up on the seats or your leg if your unlucky enough to be driving through big rain and it lets in.

So when we saw a zed with some odd electrical issues and a very wet passenger carpet the taga was an obvious suspect.

But when pulling the carpet back the area below the ecu was very dry.

So with everything initially looking ok we checked out the targa drain points

Now what your really want to see is a puddle of water appear on the floor just under the front sill area

But what we got was very different, , a very wet set of relay and loom connectors

We removed the A post trim and set about checking the drain tubing for any pin holes Pic.5,6,7,

With no issues higher up we took more panels out and eventually found the culprit here, the final stage sill drain pipe disconnected

Quite how this had come detached from the connector to the sill drain is a mystery, however athough a real neck and wrist breaker to get in the deed was done and tested, now all the targa drain water stays where its is supposed to OUTSIDE.
