What do you reckon on these?

Just wondering what peoples opinions on these are? I know this is a left hooker but disregard that.

Oh yeh I would also go for a 500 not 300

Seems a lot of car for the money in my mind Al. Im thinking that with a car like that you could spend all your money on just maintaining it and enjoying it where as with a Zed you can go on and on forever spending hundreds if not thousands on add on bits and making it better.

yeah your right bud, although a little dated lookin i still like them, there is a burgundy one round my way that is absolutely stunning, they need nothing more than a nice set of wheels lol

those are very very nice cars mate!!

My old man's got one of these - SL600 V12 - no difference between that and the 500 really only a tiny bit off the 0-60 - it is an awful lot of car for the money - these weren't far off a 100K when new.

Only problem is - typical merc "it just feels a bit flat" says my dad. even when your flying it doesn't feel that fast. but maybe that is a sign of quality?

but i agree when they are tidy, a nice set of wheels make these look lush. Great interior - proper sturdy and you can still smell the leather in dads.

The only thing is having owned a couple of soft tops before im a bit worried about scuttle shake and flex. Any idea what they are like for that?

stella,if they had scoda badges on,you would not think about buying one.

yup, i nearly bought a skoda octavia rs a few years back, it was sold before i got there, my mate had one and loved it

why do people get excieted about merc's or bmw's.???

I don't get excited over manufacturers as such but as Allan said I get excited over nice cars. I don't like all Merc's in fact I don't like many of them, same as i don't like all Nissan's.

Its all about personal opinion I suppose.

Besides that I always loved Miami Vice and its one of those type of cars, its my age you know

wow, its nice for someone to realise its two L's lol

there are loads of cars i like because of the way they look and drive and its nothing to do with the badge, but the prob is bmw and mercedes make some nice cars that everyone will like

im going for an e46 bmw m3 convertible next, its not the badge that makes me buy it but the way it looks sounds and drives that has convinced me, i would even buy it if it had a lada badge on it

so save alot of money and buy a scoda, then log on to octavia owner's web site and go to lot's of meets.

its not the badge that makes me buy it

Good, cause BMW isn't the badge it used to be IMO. :)

I agree with the above. I am not a Nissan fan generally. Mercs on the whole don't excite me, but there are some classic lines.

The following are Mercedes I do like though and would be happy to own. Among a spattering of classics, the modern cars I'm fond of are...

CE Coupe

SEC coupe

CL Coupe

And of course the SL

fook off, better than the datsun badge lol

Not at all. Everyone has preconceptions of BMW drivers....ie, they're all a bunch of cocks! LOL. The rest are owned by chavs. BMW IMO doesn't have the prestige it used to. I'd stick Audi above BMW. I just don't like the brand. There are some great cars from them, I love the E46 M3, the classic 635CSi, 8 series and the original M3, I just have an issue with the brand and what it's become.

I like the old school SL - but definitely the 500 V8 as the 300 is very underpowered. As for scuttle shake, I very much doubt it! The 500SL was £50k plus back in 1990 and Merc built them like tanks; with plenty of reinforcement. Also remember that it was built from the ground up as a soft top (as opposed to a "hot hatch" cabriolet that would originally have been a hard top with the roof cut off).

I've got a 2006 SL350 and roof up or down, it's as solid as a hard top:D

they dont, they get excited about nice cars

I agree with Allan; I'm not a BMW fan (although I've become quite keen on Mercedes over the last few years being on my second one now;). But both BMW and Mercedes do make some nice cars; the former with the M5 and M6 and the latter with the SL/SLK/AMG black ranges.

Richard:)

I have something to say............ It's better to burn out than to fade away..... :tt2:
