300zx performance figures

Why does the 1993 zx have a better 0-60 and quater mile than the other zx's?

 

I have seen these results in quite a few places now. could it be to do with weight??

It does'nt, those would be magazine/journalist tests, and its just so happens that the road tester at that moment, in that car, achieved a better time than another.

 

...it could also be that the 93 and 95 example were SWB's (lighter), while the others were LWB (heavier).

 

Weight did vary over the years, with spec changes, but generally getting heavier as they went - Airbags, Side impact bars...etc . There is also a potential performance loss in later years with the removal of the Variable timing.

 

 

EDIT : Sorry about bring an old post to life....im catching up with threads I've missed over the past 3 months LOL

Also the later cars lost the variable valves which lost a little power
