Same answer as before mate. It is USUALLY the inverter (black box) that goes faulty, so unplug it and get yourself a new one from an electrical store, such as Maplin.

is it the box in the pic???relay???when does the 300 light up?with the sidelights?headlights?or sould it be the bulb behind the 300zx or is a led?

Yes the box in the pic is the inverter.

And it should light up when you turn on your lights. Does'nt matter if its sidelights or dipped beam it should light up all the same.

Its not a bulb behind the 300ZX its an indiglo strip. A paper think strip that glows. That is sometimes the culprit but it is mostly the inverter that goes faulty.

"gar⋅nish

–verb (used with object)

to provide (a food) with something that adds flavor, decorative color, etc.: to garnish boiled potatoes with chopped parsley."

I know it doesn't apply only to food, it's just the first thing I think when I read it. I'm just being silly.

and yes from your photo your inverter is fooked! You can see that the casing has buldged outward, a classic case of it's gone 'tits-up'!! ;)

they are also known as 'rear center panels' here as well :d

cheerz dave mate,,,,do you know the voltage for the unit???also ines got 3 pins on ther underside,are these the same?

It should have Four connections on it.

I'll explain (not trying to 'Teach Granny to Suck Eggs!')

An inverter works on the following principle;

You start with the DC of 12v+ve and 12v-ve inputs, this is then inverted (not to be confused with Transformer/Rectified, as that is for the other way - AC to DC) into AC of 110v+ve and 110v-ve which will power the Electroluminescent panel.

So basically you need two inputs AND two outputs for it to work. Take the old inverter out and examine it, as one of the wires could of snapped clean off.

Well I'm no boffin on the subject, just what I already know, so I'll ask one of my collegues here at work, who know about these things, and see what they say.

But saying that, if you got one from the link I posted earlier it'll work in the correct configuration for you anyway.
