Right guys i have been thinking about Performance of the Zed and mods in the Future.... So what is one of the main Restriction for power on our cars.... INJECTORS!!!! As turbos max out at 18psi, what holds you back is our Injectors which max out at 14.5psi! So next size up = 555cc injectors which seems excessive on an slightly Upgraded setup and requires specific chip for fuelling etc etc!And have you seen the f**king price of them!! Robbery or what!!

So having a browse i see that the 350z (not a typo) injectors you can have Nismo 440cc injectors for around 1/2 the price for a set of some (300zx)Nismo 555cc injectors! Now as the injectors are only a small amount bigger a new chip shouldn't be necessary and only a small amount of fuel adjustment needs to be made on the map as flow rate is higher! This will enable people to run Higher boost if wanted without fear of DET!

Now from what i can see the Injectors look the same and i dont know if they would fit (Perhaps) and what would be the main difference between this 300z set and the 350z set?? I know older injectors had Lower Fuel pressure and large Spray from a large 'exit hole' where'as newer injectors have a Higher pressure but with more 'exit holes' thus creating a Better and more even spread of Fuel. (Lazy Excuse time) In a rush for work so dont have time to look up Fuelling spec as per 300z and 350z but i dont see why we have to follow the same s**t as everyone else. (no offence to Crowd followers) but would anyone know of what modifications would be needed to make these injectors work. Seeing as i cant find anyone whom has done it before this could be a new adventure.

I only query as when helping my friend on his car we used different injectors on his car which were slightly bigger and were High impedience which worked out better and provided him sufficient fuelling and slightly better performance (he upgraded from 270cc to 330cc)

Just feel that people need to expand their minds on what Modifying is all about and not just all falling into the category of Show and Shine boys :rant::rant:

Hopefully this maybe of use to some people and the Tech Heads can have a good ol think!

Many thanks and will have a peek after work after 11pm :(

think i read somewhere that the 350z 2003 - 2004 model injectors fit in a 93 300zx (oval electrical connectors ) if that´s of any use to you.

so how you going to adjust the map?

Well i will be running programmable management by that time (although STILL saving for all the parts 1st) so i will be fine but im sure that some small adjustments can be made to Chipped Ecu's Fuelling. (IIRC that is)

Just think it could be a nice upgrade for people who dont have an arm and a leg to spend and arent chasing power that deserves 555cc injectors if rest of setup is just above stock! Was hoping for a better response to see if this could spark anyone's thoughts on widening the market of parts that can be used for the Z32!

Thanks by the way Maz for your Reply :)

Yes they can, but for most people that will mean a new chip - or electronics to fiddle the a/f ratio which would pretty much negate the saving...

Probably the cheapest way to use cheaper injectors would be to fabricate a top-feed rail; injectors are much, much cheaper and billet rails are cheap too - depends if you fancy a project or not.

Well its not the fact that i want cheap injectors, its just a more practical upgrade than going from stock to Massively over-sized and unnecessary injectors injectors that need loads of tweaking for the remainder of my setup which as they are so oversized will prove pointless, where as i felt that the 350z injectors will be of more use, have a better impact with less farting around and additionally cheaper as well. Also i already have a Adjustable AFR which i didnt know i had until i took out my ecu and found it hiding underneath it

Its not just the cost im thinking of its the pracitcality of it, as mine still is a Daily Driver having massive injectors would be a waste but having a small upgrade for when i do have some fun will do the world of good and remove the threat of running lean.

Was thinking it could be a Handy upgrade for others aswell as you wont get more power but shoving in the biggest injectors you can find as we both understand it doesnt work that way :)

Righto then boys and girls i have been ill the past few days so have gone on another conquest to break the traditional methods of Zed owners Upgrade list :D Just because i like to be different!

Upon oodles of time researching (actually on a Water Injection system) i came across the work of a company in the US called Ztune Motorsports. After seeing lots of interesting stuff i had a browse through there inventory and found These babies !!Clicky!!

I know what your saying... Holy sh*t there are more places in the world that sell 300zx Injectors than Z1, Zcentre, DTA and Ebay!!!!!!!!OMFG!!!!!!!!!!

now did anybody catch the cost of these?? Yes $400 but (oh no a downside) these will only fit a car with 2nd Gen Fuel Rails (as they say) so you would need to fork out another massive $200 for an adpater kit for them to fit people with 90-94 zeds. Now they also do them in 550cc and Nismo injectors, which are still a good price compared to what other places charge when they laugh at you when you buy them there.

If you dont like the store i went to their own website Deatschwerks which came up with the same prices but unfortunately no 450cc size which was concerning but none the less the same sized injectors as the nismo ones (well 5cc out) for half the price and will do the same job with 1yr guarantee and flow tested with results! So with some GENUINE 300zx injectors no flaffing about is needed as per earlier comments of using 350z injectors.

So in conclusion you can get these injectors raise your boost and still be at healthy duty cycle with minor tweaks to the fuel map on your chipped ecu if you wish to proceed with the 450cc route!

I have now got a top feed fuel rail with RC 555cc saturated injectors - and can now upgrade up to (and beyond) 1000cc injectors (without removing my plenum etc) if I want and as and when I am ready. Top feed injectors are very cheap and are OEM in the majority of modern cars. Cost £45.00 each!!!! 750cc are the same price and 1000cc are about £65.00.

Had to modify the lower plenum with new injector bungs - but nearly there now...

...catching up with threads I missed while I was away....

For a long time, injector options, in particular for the early (89-94) VG has been very limited. You had the choice of fitting the early Nismo 555 injectors to the stock fuel rail, or swapping to the new style rail and lower plenum and going with later pintlelss injectors.

A few aftermarket fuel rails appeared, such as the 360degree rail, which allowed later style injector fitment and improved inherit design flaws in the stock fual rail setup.

Venom injectors are fairly well known about.....for their horror stories (leaking and erratic flow rates).

The Deutchwerks appeared on the scene a couple of years ago, and I spent some time trying to organise discount pricing with them for a potential group buy but it was a no go unfortunatly. I've discussed these in the past a few times here, there should be previous threads.

They are cheaper than the Nismo's, there is a reason though...they are remanufactured, whereas the Nismo's are new stock. But they do have a good reputation, not just for the Z32 but other marques too. Z1 now sell the Deutchwerks adaptors.

However, as AndyGP mentioned top feed fuel rails are starting to appear. Often discussed but never really acted on for production, but now there are a couple of options developing.

This really opens up injector availability, along with other benefits.

Thanks matey - all good - I have too spent almost 2 years now researching, mocking up and generally getting involved with the (high level) fuel rail situation and I believe I have the best solution on my car right now - but can't show you guys until the new year or maybe spring.

I considered the above from Mattz but I have to tell you THAT IN MY OPINION, AND FROM WHAT I HAVE LEARNED - DON'T BUY A FUEL RAIL WITH WELDED JOINTS OK ;-)) High pressure fuel rail and welded joints are just not viable in my opinion - and also - I don't like the way the injectors are secured in place with the above design - looks loke a point of failure/wear.

Will get some pics out as soon as possible...

Andy

Jimmer tried to buy some injectors and convertors from Deatschwerks who took his money and promised delivery, but 2 months later he was still waiting, and after waiting another 4 weeks on a promise, he requested his money back. No probs there but his car was in bits for all that time waiting for the new injectors. Not good.
