if the new m3 has 400bhp and 300lbs of torque and weighs 1750kg

would a zed with 400 bhp and 400 lbs of torque be able to confortably pass the new v8 m3?

Featured Replies

going figure wise, both being RWD i would assume it should yes?

As the new m3 is quite abit heavier than the zed.

bare in mind drive train loss and gear ratios will make a difference despite having a similar power to weight ratio

i would say no chance
Hmmm as you've never had a 400BHP ZX or driven a new BMW M3 how can possibly comment on this?:x: i'd say if the ZX has a genuine 400 BHP and not just pub talk then it will have the edge on the M3

ROFL!!

At the end of it, if its in a straight line its all in the Numbers! Power to weight etc etc! So if power it the same and there is 100kg difference the lighter car will win!

But put the same cars on a track and it will be a different story! But as said above if its not Pub talk and is truly around that figure then yes the Zed should have the edge on the m3

Point well made:) and is proven time and time again, eg a Honda S2000 can go round a track as quick as EVO's/Skyline's etc, however in a straight line it would be left miles behind.

Back on topic... a 400/400 will be a very quick car, problem is most ZX's with a zorst and filter are 500BHP!!, so no wonder they have no chance:rofl::rofl::rofl:

Not on here buddy - the vast majority of us know are not of the "Max Power" pub talking breed and know the realistic limitations of our cars;)

I have something to say............ It's better to burn out than to fade away..... :tt2:

I know its slightly OT in a way. Not realy into BMWs realy, but i met up with an M6 tuned by G-power last month. It one of them 800BHP monsters. He played with me like i was a little mouse, and i was in a 400bhp car. A mighty car them G-power M6s:bow:

If a 400bhp ZX had 400lbs of torque, if it did pass i dont think it would comfortably pass. Even though it may pass.

today i took out a 2002 m3 for a spin and i have to be honest it didnt feel as quick as a zed???? very poor off the line to be honest. give me a zed anyday:)

of the ones iv been in, i would say its very much the other way round, the power of the M3 feels quite raw and responsive but the zed feels sluggish in comparison, maybe because the zed is so smooth. the one you drove must be really poor running

Well an E46 M3 has 340BHP and hits 0-60 in 4.5 seconds, (for the coupe), so they are should feel very quick off the mark and should feel quicker than a standard Zed all day long

Add another 0.5sec & more to that mate....more like 0-60 in 5.1

The E90 M3 might crack it in 4.5 but not the E46...

Against a E46 a standard Zed will struggle....but not be trounced. Do the basic mods on the Zed though and its bye bye E46....as the Zeds superior turbo torque does its stuff!:D
