Its something that I have been wondering about for quite a while, so finally I'll ask the question.

I assume that the fog lights on a UK Zed are incorporated into the rear light clusters of the Zed. On the Jap spec, they are not which results in the add on rear fog lamp under the rear bumper and it looks crap.

If my assumption regarding the UK rear fog lamp is correct, would it not be simple to transplant the light clusters and rewire?

The above is probably totally wrong from assumption through to suggestion, but please enlighten me. Its something that I always wondered.

I hope I have this in the right section (I believed it to be a discussion question rather than looking for help and advise)

on the uk car theres seperate fogs built into the bumper, you can wire up one of the rear reversing lights for the fog light which is neater :)

The rear fog lights on a UK zed are built into the specific UK spec rear bumper. It is completely different to a Jap bumper in that it is a long orifice big enough to take a legal UK number plate and on either side two special fog light orifices with lights in them.

On the Jap cars, there is only one square orifice big enough for a Jap number plate. Because of this people either bolt a seperate fog light somewhere or rewire a bulb in the rear lights to act as a fog light.

HTH,

Isaac

Examples for you :)

Thanks naf and Si for letting me borrow pics from your rides section ;)

Thanks guys for the answers.

Its a shame that it is not incorporated somehow into the rear clusters.

Thats all i have done mate. As Mike said above, i have simply replaced one of my reversing bulbs with a red one and wired it to a switch and hey presto, job done :D

I've done that. But hate the fact you loose a reversing light. So, I just swap out a bit of loom and bulb at MOT time so that I have a fog light. I have never driven my Z in the fog and have never used it so it makes no odds to me. You don't then get asked 'has one of your reverse light bulbs blown' that way.

You could always replace you JSpec bumper with a UK bumper.........

Piece of cake!! ;)

:slap: But Dave people will then think its a rusty UK zed

Disclaimer - no offense to you UK zed owners, just pullin ya leg.

I had to reread the comments twice. Boy, do I feel like a right tit now.

Yes the incorporation is exactly like Mike and you said Isaac. And it should be simple also.

Dave - I don't have the cash to rewire a light bulb right now, not alone replace a rear bumper :)

Hi Chayden like you I have the jdm rear bumper and for mot up hear a fog light was fitted under the bumper but it is fitted for just that day then I unbolt it and drive all year without one as I would never use it as my zed is garaged most of the winter

Fair point, but I do have TWO fully working rear fogs, AND both rear illuminated side markers  (it's unique, the only one of it's kind)

You never know..... I got the rear bumper for the price of a crate of amber nectar! ;)

As for re-wiring, it's minimal. There is a Fog Lamp FAQ in the FAQ section with all the details you need

dude what we do with all imports is use one reverse light as the fog light,,change the bulb to red and wire it to a switch via ur headlight,on the 300zx althougth u got 4 light clusters for the reverse,it one bulb per 2 clusters.looks alot neater than having a foggy hangin off ya bumper and u get to keep the jdm look.

Here's one we made earlier.

This way you keep a fog and a reverse light on each side of the car...

elo pal,,,how you manage that????its one bulb which lights up the 2 lenses??please advise

Oh just me being tricky. I siliconed a blanking plate halfway between the two light outlets.

drilled another bulb hole in the sectioned off area and used chrome spray for extra glow.

The reverse lights plug in as usual but I connected the stand-alone fog light to the newly added bulbs :)

you have done a good job, much prefer the lights like that, look professional, can you come an do mine????lol

Cheers mate. They're really easy to do - just use some thin plastic etc to slot into the cluster, bond them in, spray silver inside and drill holes for the red bulbs to go in. Job done!
