Hi all whats the best oil to use in my 300zx tt i keep getting conflicting answers ?

about the same as my last zed i was told to use a 10/40 semi synthetic and never had any issues, but im sure someone more knolagable then me will shed some light.

10/40 keeps popping up so thanks for that, think ill go with that

10w/40 is the recommended oil, however try and find some posts by oilman, there was one that showed the pro's and con's of varying oil grades

 

but as a general answer 10w/40 is fine i'd go for the oem filter, or a wix branded one though

Several engine builders I have spoken to, engine builders with advanced dynos able to control and measure the engine during dyno tests, say that they see better performance from mineral oil than from synthetic oil. This is valid in especially in extreme situations. Synthetic or semi-synthetic is better when low engine temperatures, but with normal engine temperatures, mineral oil protects the engine better. So if you are careful on low temperatures, there seems to be are more advantages with mineral oil. This was a surprise for me,- perhaps synthetic at double price is more a sales/marketing jippo ??
