Seemed to have developed a problem on the power steering, it feels too light and floaty at times and when turning at slow speeds it feels notchy like there isnt enough fluid in (but its to the correct level).

I have UK clocks fitted, there is not signs of leaks and the belt is good.

Any ideas folks?

I have a similar issue. Sometimes light, sometimes heavy.

Jeff of Zedworld suggested an ECU related issue but nothing major.

If it is ECU related, reset it by pulling the fuse or disconnecting the battery for a minute or two. Worth a try before looking elsewhere. It could also be a speed sensor fault.

Speedo is fine and no issues that could have caused it, disconnected the battery overnight but still the same, strange.

The level of power steering provided is controlled by a unit down by the ECU. On a TT it is quite large unit as it also does the Hicas. On an NA, the unit is small. The pulses from the speed sensor are passed to the speedo clocks then to the control unit. If the speedo is OK then the problem may well lie in the controller itself or the solenoid on the steering rack (or wires to it). I have fixed a control unit once simply by running a soldering iron over the dodgy joints with a bit of fresh solder. Check the solenoid connections then go from there.
