Ive only ever driven manual zeds and am looking for another car now. Have been offered a swb TT- t-top auto, apart from being an auto its exactly what ive been looking for. Trying not to open a can of worms but is it worth keeping it as an auto or would you change it to manual and if so how much would the conversion cost????. Im pretty good with cars but never done the swap before so would not want to attempt it myself or at least not with out help.

Cheers Craig

Most people dont like the auto. I like it and shall keep it but if it fails i will consider a manual box. But i would also look into a stronger manual box from another make of car, be nice to have a 6 speed.

My JDM LWB TT was bought as an Auto, but I changed it to manual.

IMO - it is a much better drive as a manual & I have ZERO regrets.

Cost me a lot though as most of the components excluding the actual gearbox are brand new.

I took no short cuts with the job.

BTW my auto was sold as working perfectly when removed.

I've only ever driven my auto, and it operates perfectly never had no hitches, I think the big v6 suits the auto quite well and its pretty quick still. I like the benefits the auto gives such as the lazy town driving that I do mainly to work, does the manual give better control through the twisties, and i guess you've got alot more driver involvment factor?

I love my auto box our skyline is also an auto especially good in turbo charged cars as you don’t lose boost when changing gear like you do with manuals.

Anyway changing gears by hand is old fashion lol

amen!!!

pobably depends on what kind of power you are thinking of running and how much you are willing to spend on clutches and boxes

Well this time ill be keeping the zed as an ongoing project so not really fussed about cost eventually id like to see 400+bhp but thats w hile away yet but hopefully not too far.

Good point on clutch replacement, how many manual owners have changed there clutch and how often.

I've had my Z for 2 and a half years ...... the first year and a half it was an auto.... for the last year it has been a manual, for me personally having driven the same car as both.... I much prefer the way the manual drives and sounds now.

I pretty sure the first thing ill be doing is the manual conversion, I think if i want to upthe power it wouold be stupid not really.....

Craig

mine was auto and i loved pottering around and point and squirt, BUT when it came to giving it some in a race i was sometimes caught out and i did have problems with it too it was changed for another auto and i wished i had changed it to manual instead and since having the GTR i would never go the auto route again.
