As it failed the mot we have been working on it.

First it failed on the rear fog, it has had the rear reverse light wired as a fog but it just lights up both reverse lights and not very bright so took it all out and blanked off the top reverse light so its much brighter now and you cant tell its been blanked out so thats one job done.

Second was to do a boost leak test, can hear a big leak coming from the passenger side low down, couldnt see it so could be near the turbo??

Worse fail was it has a split on the passenger side inner arch?? not sure how its happened, doesnt look like its been in a crash so not sure if someone has hit something hard and its gone but the original weld has gone so we tried to weld it up but the welder is having an off day LOL so need a new welder now

Its detting at higher boost so checked the timing and it was advanced slightly but not a huge amount, tbh i was expecting it to be highly advanced but was only around 17 tdc so put it back to 15.

Also fit new a few bits i got the other day ie new boot carpet, cardboard and spare wheel, fit the new nose panel and now ran out of time as the footie is on shortly and mikey bean should be around prestons way on them m6 with some more goodies for my car including my 99 spec front :D

Well some goodies came today for the car, thought i would try the cheaper route as i'm on a budget and to try out some of the cheapo products on the market at the moment :)

First i have an uprated radiator for a massive sum of £140 delivered.

First impressions are its ok for the money, the welds are a bit rough in places, nothing like the quality of a koyo but you get what you pay for and as long as it does its job then i'm happy with it.

Second i have a front mount intercooler which was £250 delivered.

Now before people say about front mounts vs smic the main reason i have got this is for the look of the car not huge performance.

So first impressions are very good, alot better quailty than the radiator, looks well put together with decent end tanks and i was very impressed with the pipework quality and decent silicon couplers!! even the clamps are good quality ones :)

So the idea is for the price i can sell my existing smic's i have got a new intercooler and a new radiator ;)

Took a picture of the intercooler kit.

Jesus what a long day today.

Started on the car at 9 this morning and have just got in now :smash:

Today my jobs were:

strip the wings of the breaker i have

strip the front of mine

remove oem radiator and install new uprated radiator

remove arc intercoolers and install new front mount.

fit new wings

fit 99 spec front bumper.

So i was expecting a busy day but god i'm not used to it anymore LOL

Anyway didnt manage to get all the jobs done :(

Got the wings off, fitted the new radiator, fitted the front mount but ran out of time as it kept bloody raining all day!!

Radiator fitted fine, be interested to see how it performs.

Front mount not so well!! doesnt come with any kind of fitting kit so had to make some brackets, the longer pipework fits a treat but the u bends dont fit very well so think you really need some 45 degree couplers to make the kit fit properly but its on now.

Gonna have my tea, have a shower and a well deserved beer :D

oh yeh forgot, removed the carbon can and a few other bits and bobs :)

Good work there Mike! Get some more pics up pronto!

i didnt take any as i forgot my camera and it was raining most of the day

litterally put 4 bolts on the bumper to get it home LOL i had just had enough today and was soaked :smash:

still got the big leak near the passenger turbo and hoped to have another look today as i had the front of the car pretty high so would have made it easier but it was getting dark and needed to get it put together to drive the thing home :)

my poor dad stripped the breaker all day and helped me as well  so the breaker is well and truely stripped down :hyper:

Mike

You've got me wanting to pull mine apart now as I have plans for mine!

Nothing left of your SWB then?

you should see my dads garage LOL he cleared it all last week and its full again

Took a few pics today

one of the new radiator, one of the bumper with FMIC, will look alot better once the 99 spec bumper goes on :)

and just fitted my boost gauge as mine does not come with an oem one so i like to be able to see what the boost is doing ;)

other than that i keep getting rained off :( have the oil cooler to replace and move to the side

have a new apexi filter to install

need some more silicon to ease my mind on the fmic as i dont like how two of the pipes fit

main job is still to get this leak fixed and once thats done and the 99 spec is on with the new wings i have its pretty much done

Got some more done today :)

Dad trial fitted the new wings and yes they fitted better but the wrong colour :smash: same colour but slightly darker and stood out a mile so took them off and had a mess with the old wings and made them fit much better :)

Fitted 45 degree silicon couplers to the inner pipes on the FMIC to make it all fit better

And finally got the 99 spec front bumper on :)

Looks much better, very happy with it and not a bad colour match.

Had to rewire the indicators as it had the newer plugs on and the bumper never came with the other side so hade to put the older bulb holders in the newer indicators but works fine but one slight issue

Cant fit the side lights now as the fmic is too big so left out the hard plastic bit that sits behind the bumper and going to do something with the indicators and wire a bulb in there if a can but its not a huge issue at the moment ;)

And lastly got new tyres all round  my breaker car came with spanking new toyos for the rear so had them swapped over and fitter new toyos on the front to match :hyper: so got some grip now.

Anyway having a well deserved beer or two!! first beer ive had since JAE :duffer:

Took a few pics when i got the car back

Mike

just save weight really, if your messing with the SMIC then its a job you may as well do when the bumpers off, you sometimes get a fuel smell at first but it goes after that

I changed my smics today lol!!. Is it the big black thing just above the the passenger smic??
