My car is a JDM car, understand that CC on these tops out at 75. Now I have UK speedo clocks in mine, so should this de-restrict?

Or do I need a UK cruise control ECU?

Featured Replies

didn't ralise the jap spec cruise had a top speed, thought its lowest speed was higher than a uk.

the speed signal goes via the clocks to the main ecu and i think then on to the cruise ecu. if previously you had jap clocks with a speed converter then the signal to the main ecu is lower than it should be thus fooling the cruise ecu into thinking you havnt reached its top speed yet.

changing to uk clocks with out the speed converter will mean the main ecu and therefore i guess the cruise ecu will see the real speed and do whatever they are programed to do (ie speed limiter and speed chimes)

not sure whether you need a uk cruise ecu or a uk main ecu or just a rechiped main ecu

Si, I have uk clocks in my jap spec car and when in cc mode the max the car will do is 70 mph.

Paul

70mph on my GPS is actually 77 on my speedo. :p

Thats a fair way out, I converted my jap clocks to uk and 50mph on the clock is about 48mph on sat nav. My CC is limited to 70 also.

I don't actually know in all honesty, I was just giving Mr Bean some jib. hehe :)

That's surprisingly quite a long way out - especially considering your wheel/tyre sizes Si.

Mine's barely 2mph different at 70mph and even at 100 it is still close; maybe 2-3mph in it. I'm running 265/35/18 rear tyres....

I cannot comment on the cruise though as I only ever use mine in restricted areas like roadworks; if I do decide, the odd rare occasion, to fracture the speed limit, then I'll never use the CC. It's too unnerving flying towards the back of a car travelling at 70 when you're doing 1** plus (autobahn of course) with no foot on the pedals:slap:

Richard;)

I have something to say............ It's better to burn out than to fade away..... :tt2:

I think the max is 90mph. Try setting it at 90 then cancel and on a suitable empty road, of course, hit resume at 30 and see how long you can resist touching a pedal to cancel. It is quite unnerving seeing it get boost and racing back to 90 when you aren't touching the pedals.
