Hi

I've installed a glow dial kit in the dash from performance dials, you can just see them below, however the instructions tell me to wire up the live wire from the switch unit to the supply to the dash lights, can anyone who has done this tell me exactly where i splice the live wire into?

Man thanks

Ric

Hi Rich, the easiest way is to wire into the 2 screws at the bottom of the dash binnacle, as you look at the dash, the screw on the left is the live feed. Put some crimp rings on the end of the wires, so that each screw goes through and holds it securely.

The 2 screws at the bottom of the dash by the way are also the feed for the 4 small bulbs for front illumination, most are usually blown, but if you remove them anyway, so it doesnt spoil the effect.

Cheers

Graham

PS will send those leds on monday

Pistol its a Millenium Evo copy off ebay item no 220462316662, £39.95, that should do you as well Tango, there is a boss required, the "proper" one is approx £80, but the ebay one works with a bit of modification, for £25.

Dave, is the red fly lead the one, ??!!!

Rich

No Its not, If you look at the bottom of the dash ( between the legs) lol

There are 2 screw at the back of the dash, you need the 2 screws at the bottom of the dash, the live is next to where the convertor is hanging in the pic, the other the ground

You're both stars, however if the positive is where you indicated, why is his converter connected somewhere else?

ric

I'm sure I'll be corrected if I'm wrong, but I believe that that 'Convertor' is the Speed convertor, and nothing to do with what you are doing.

BTW -- The pictures look very good bud, nice work, and suit you Zed very nicely! ;) And no they haven't arrived yet.

Yep as dave said, its for the speed convertor and takes its voltage from the speedo, so ignore it.

Also the 2 screws that dave has indicated, are connected also to the 2 screws at the bottom of the dash on the black surround, so either option will work and will also be dimmable from the pod

Dave, Blimey, tough luck mate, at least you're still mobile. good thing is you have a light at the end of the tunnel when its all going to be better and back to normal, unfortunately my tunnel is pitch black and is as long as i've got to live. doctors have given up so i just have to keep taking the pain killers and morphine until my tunnel ends..

Rich, we've had this discussion on the forum before when there was a Group buy for these dial kits, but........

Personally what I'd do is keep the original bulbs behind your new EL Dials, that way the needles will still light up and you'll be able to see them better when driving, hopefully the EL Dials are good enough NOT to let any of the light through anywhere else, so keeping the full effect. I also hope that you have removed the small bulbs from the bottom of the dash?

Either way they look great bud

Hi, yeah i left the bulbs in behind the dials. Cant say i notice them behind the Glow of the new dials. Small bulbs? if you mean the 4 bulbs for throwing light forward, well they must have blown ages ago as they dont work.

As for the dials , well they're okay, but what i really wanted were some white Glow dials,

I got some from the last Group Buy, and they looked like yours, in the end, and before I fitted them, I decided to sell them because I managed to find the White dials that I currently have. Although mine arn't Glow ones, they are illuminated with red LED's from behind, and I like that while driving at night.

Hi Rich, get 4x 5 way blue leds available from ebay, to replace the blown bulbs, it will bring the dials alive and as Dave suggested would light up the needles. Also they will match the blue leds ive sent to you

Cheers

Graham
