Lets say they give me my £3,000 back with no hassle.

How much compensation should I push for on top of that?

I don't want to go in too low if i am entitled to more as the impact it has had on me as a person and financially is catostrophic.

I don't want to go in too high neither as they wont take me seriously.

Hi

Seriously I doubt they'll be inclined to give anything back

Put it in perspective, If they had that sort of money they could have got yor zed sorted and charged you for the privelidge.

I wouldn't hold your breath

Sorry to spread the doom and gloom but you must be realistic

They might not be inclined but i will be taking them to court. I have spoken to trading standards and asked the question. They said yes i am entitled to compensation however didnt say how much.

if you have paid them £3000 then yes.

take it all the way to court... you paid for something you never had.. as long as you can back it all up which im sure you can they shouldnt have a leg to stand on and you should get back most if not all of your money... how can someone get away with shit like this!!!

i agree as long as you can prove everything take them for what you can in court, if it finishes them off then they wont be ripping anyone else off in future.

as I said in other thread, I dont think you've got a chance of compensation without going to court and even then I dont think its very likely.

You will probably struggle to get your deposit back, and at best they will most likely offer you you deposit minus the cost of the work they have done so far. :( :(

Sorry, not what you wanted to hear.

i agree and no doubt the work they say they have done will come to pretty much the same as the money you gave them.

i think you will struggle to get anything out of them and if also make sure you get all your stuff back, i know loads of people who through various garages lost valueable parts which just vanished!!

hope i'm wrong though bud

good luck

Mike

This type of thing annoys me... as that is a lot of cash to have just vanished into thin air........i do hope you get the majority back but if what these guys are saying is true and you dont.... i would ............................ burn the place to the ground.

Name and shame, and focus on the local press where they are based.

Oh i will do.

Thing is if i did take my car else where allot of money the £3k deposit would have to be re done by the new garage.

Any measurements and checks would have to be redone, they might want to re do the heads to warrant their work. They will want to do their own mockup engine.

If i dont get what i want from the garage which i am happy compensation wise then i will name and shame, local press and all sorts.

Thing is they are stupid!! my car will be a massive spec if it was done, making big hp. I will get allot of attention in the car and no doubt a Feature in magazines which i will just name and shame in all of them and everything and tell it as a story in features how it went from some rubbish garage to another to get it done.

Good Luck to you Jaffa, that is the power of the Internet, there is a lot you can do on the NET to name and shame such cowboys, remember to take mug shots of the culprits if you can so we can see their faces plaster them on every car forum, on the planet scan the court order which will hopefully be in your favour so we can ensure that twat does not build another engine for anybody else anywhere, I will be glad to help in anyway I can.

seek help to get the best advice, i would try for compensation. If not debt collection can take the debt on for a % of the cut. Some money is better than non, try the legit way first, if all fails there are other ways.

Have you managed to get your car and all of your property off of there premises now Jaffa?

burn the place down with your car in there, and don't get caught... oh and make sure they have insurance first...

you hate car, they're crap at fixing cars, everyone's a winner....

nb... don't do that, I'm joking, but it would work out for the best...lol
