Had this zed nearly a year now just looked at the clock pics I took just after I had it and covered less than 2000km/1200miles :( I love this car it's loads better than my pearl one but just not getting any use out of it. Not really thinking of selling but seems a bit pointless spending out on tax, insurance, fancy stuff etc and driving round in a shagged out escort that I do 15,000 a year in struggling it's poor little balls off. what sort of miles are others putting on these cars mines seems more of an expensive ornament than a car:o

1200 miles !! thats a high miler :).Jesus want to swap chap.Im lucky if i do 500 in mine.if i never had a trade policy anyway to cover work id be pissey as hell.As long as you enjoy the car when you can thats all that matters bud.

hell in the 18 months i had mine i did 12k, it was a second car as well as I either had another car (work hack) or a van from work lol.

It's a car, bloody drive it is my opinion. I use mine every day, short trips, long trips and its fine. I personally never understand the point of a second car, mainly because every day when i walked out the house if i had the choice of a high performance car or a 1300 shitter the later would never get used.

I don't see the point in trying to keep the mileage low, look after it properly and high mileage isn't an issue. (I've seen high mileage cars in better condition than low mileage ones)

Realistically whats the point in having a car you don't drive?

In the last 18 months mine has done 1000 miles....... All on the back of a trailer!!!

can't really use it as a daily drive as It would cost me over £1000 Extra a year in fuel alone(would almost double my fuel bill) without wear/tear/repairs + 15Kmiles a year on the clocks would soon drop the value . Fortunatley I don't have to walk past the zed to get to the DD sh#tter zeddie's kept in our garage which is in the opposite direction so don't have to choose.

This thread is de ja vu!

Whats the reason for not using it?

sh!te weather most weekends so it doesn't leave the garage, 15-20 mins drive through traffic to get to any decent roads which kind of takes the edge off things as by the time I get to actually "drive" it I'm so frustraited I don't enjoy it , turn round and end up going home:( I've had a few nice early morning runs in it which are far more fun as nobody's about

6500 miles over 2 years........If its your hobby & you enjoy, its not pointless mate.

About the same for me - and I thoroughly agree with your opinion mate!!

TBH, mate, if you don't mind the fuel costs then 15k miles a year is probably not going to make much difference to the value of any 15-20 year old car. Sure a genuine low mileage example may command a slight premium but considering the current prices some ZXs are fetching I wouldn't worry about mileage - overall condition is more important;)

Richard:)

I have something to say............ It's better to burn out than to fade away..... :tt2:

Mine has done 0 miles in the last year or so. DD Almera GTi costs £200 a month in fuel. Zed would cost prob 350 a month in fuel alone!!!!

I've considered getting a daily driver too, as when my work places moves it will probably cost another £1k in fuel, but then I think to myself I've put a lot of money into getting it how I like it and keeping it well maintained and think sod it I may as well enjoy it all the time.

But if your hearts not entirely in it and I think it has to be with this kinda of car due to the high maintenence/running cost when things go wrong why not consider a less expensive performance car as a permanent daily.

about 3 miles and a third of a tank as it was full when it was put on the drive.

After a 18 months off the road and shedload of weekends with a mig my zed is nearly ready to get MOT'd and be hopefully shortly back on the road. New sills and inner and inner inner and the innermost bit as well! and bottom of rear wing wheel arch bits and back edge of rear wheel arches and a couple of small bits at the floor next to the front sills. Once you start it goes on and on but hopefully now at an end.

Daily driver is a 4.6l V8 ford engined rear drive MG ZT. Loads of torque and a nice noise but only about 260-270bhp. Think it might have to be fitted with an LPG kit tho as 22-24mpg can be a bit heavy these low carbon days for a daily driver. I know the lpg burns as much carbon, its just that there isnt as much tax to go with it!
