hello everybody let me pick your brains i put in 1.2mm jets in made no diffance to car i did not put chip in yet i thought it should have made some diffance am i wrong

Do you have an aftermarket boost gauge ?

 

if the car is in safety mode then boost jets wont make a difference. The same can apply if you have a boost leak.

yes mate i have after market boost gauge chected ecu got a 55 no leaks it reads the same as car boost gauge rufley 6.5 psi car gaug only goes to 7 anyway :(

That's safety boost then.

 

Get rid of that gauge too! Whoever fitted it needs to learn more about the Z32 which boosts to 9.5PSi! :rofl:

no mate the one in the car itself is -7to+7 the after market goes to 20 psi if she was in safe boost would it not show on ecu :headvswal

If it's -7 to + 7 on the gauge, then it'll be a JDM model which doesn't measure in PSi. It's mmHg.

1.2mm should give you a slight raise, nothing massive. Maybe 11-12PSi? All cars respond differently though. It's always best to try larger sizes first. Try a smaller tip. 1mm and see if that makes any difference. If not, then you have either installed them incorrectly....which I doubt you have as there's only one way to do it..lol or you have some kind of other issue.

 

I personally would NEVER fit jets to an unknown/unchipped ECU. The fueling can't compensate enough in the stock map.

It might well be chipped, but if you don't know what map is on there, then it's not much use if you want to alter the boost.

 

If you take the ECU out, there's probably a few ways of telling. A lot of aftermarket Japanese ECU chips were soldered directly onto the site the old ones were, so usually noticeable by a stick on the ECU cover. Some though, including most UK ones have chip carriers fitted. Socketed ECUs are easy to spot as it's visible to the eye once you pop open the ECU.

 

If it has a JDM chip in it, then it's mapped for Japanese fuel which is a different octane rating to that over here. It some cases, the chip may have a very aggressive map on it which really isn't suitable at all. But they are an unknown and it's always worth fitting a replacement 'known' chip.

 

There are also boIIocks chips about, Superchips etc are utter cobblers.

Yes. Ignore ANYTHING that says 'stage' next to it. Useless term. Means nothing. The map is unknown. Better off buying one from a recognised forum member/trader. JeffTT, AndyP, DTA and John Dixon all supply chips.
