Hi people,

Just a quickie, my clutch thrust bearing (i think) is whirring when not pressed down, press clutch in and it quietens a little, put her into gear and it stops. Will my clutch fail in an instant or will it get worse over time and gradually fail?

Just trying to gauge as to when to get it done.

Cheers all,

Al.

mine does this also alan... jimmer fitted a new thrust bearing with my build and it made no difference :( been like it for ages

Sounds like the pilot bearing to me...back of the engine job :(

As a rule, whenever the clutch is replaced, both of the these and the rear crank oil seal should be replaced as everything is easily accessed with the gearbox off.

The 300 has a spigot bush that has no bearings so it cant make a whirring noise.

Gotcha...cheers for that :)

Would the whirring noise be the coming from the gearbox itself then? She also whines in almost every gear. Meaning my gears are pretty fooked, i think.

mine has a whine in nutral and when driving but its been like that since i bought it, no change and ive thrashed it loads but it hasnt changed, good ol mt90 ;) ooo it also rattles at really low rpm like say 1500 then disapears.

Mine rattles too!!! I think its the metal/rubber surround under the centre console. As joely advised, gonna get some heat shrink around it, and hopefully it will go. One thing am glad off, i am not the only one that has a whiney wife.. ooops, sorry, gearbox!!! LOL!!

Al.

na it wont be the rubber lol, pretty sure the ol box rattles at low rpm, just not as tight as they were new.
