I've been working on the Z for a few days trying so sort out a few rust problems. Think it came out well, used the silver one as a donor for the sills;)

Thats scarey. The notion is that Imports are in better nick for their age than UK models, BUT.........there are exceptions. Surely that has to do with the targa drain pipes going into the sill and not subsequently draining away due to blocked sill drain vents. Must check my drain vents again tonight.Phew.

The exceptions will be the imports that have been here for a while, as far as I can tell there isnt any difference between JDM and UK rustproofing. its just that the UK cars have spent far longer in the British climate, exposed to salt etc.

 

Give it another couple of years and most of the imports unless mollycoddled will go exactly the same way.

Just out of interest. People chuck out shells better than that. How come you went down this route?

This was an impulse buy 24hrs after writing off the silver one.

apart from the rust it's a good car, I was using it as a daily drive for the last 6 months and aint had any problems with it. The engine is spot on which is a very good thing with a Z!

I dont think its that bad, seen a lot worse on minis.

I do have a mint condition shell to rebuild with the silver car;) I also like the idea of fixing up two to replace the one i wrote off
