Which make are generally recommended? Are the more expensive makes worth splashing out on, and do they chuck out less dust?

Featured Replies

theres a nice selection out here. ive tried both red and black ebc brake pads. i found red was excellent when hot but had some "fill the pants moments" when cold and these was really good on brake dust. the black are just a little bit better then the standard replacement with low dust. ive tried motor factor pads, they was cheap and chearful but i changed them as they wasnt any good but got me out of trouble when i was short of cash. At the moment ive got Mintex in but havent done any decent driving only done 200miles on them. seem alright at the moment.

Porterfield and Hawk HPS probably the most popular Z option.

The Ferrodo FS2500 is a more expensive and very highly regarded pad.

Ferrodo's for sure. Worth the extra wonga IMO. Altho they do create alot of dust!

Cheers,

Isaac

I would recommend both Porterfield and Ferodo DS2500's. However, they are for different styles of driving. The Porterfields are perfect for fast road use whereas the Ferodo's are much harder and are more suitable to track use (they also tend to squeel terribly when driving around town).

Price wise you're looking at:

Porterfield R4-S (front): £75.00

Porterfield R4-S (rear): £80.00

Ferodo DS2500 (front): £129.50

Ferodo DS2500 (rear): £105.00

I have all these pads in stock at the moment (although I'm down to my last set of Porterfields (front)).

Let me know if I can be of further assistance.

Regards,

Dan

If you go for front Ferrodo DS2500, be careful where you get them. I purchased a set online, cannot remember the company, and when "jimmer" rebuilt my engine i asked him to change the pads as i hated the squeal. Turns out that the pads where standard Leyland truck pads, modified to fit my 300 calipers!!! I now run EBC yellow stuff, and they are great, cold and hot!
