Hi everyone,

first: search doesn´t work, so I wasn´t able to check older threads,

sorry, if its a well discussed theme...

Just came back from dyno - Zed ran much too fat, starting from 4k revs

(hope, i´m allowed to set this picture-link)

A friend of mine, also Z32, had the same prob. Now we´re thinking about

a codebraker-solution. Engine management systems like Motec etc are really

expensive, and we were wondering, if the nistune-system is able help us

getting lean...

Are nistune-users here that can say something about this system?

Please excuse, if i made mistakes, I´m austrian...

Thanks in advance, Patrick

i also had a similair problem when i had my car dynoe'd it dropped off very rich about 3000rpm ish iirc, tbh i thought the chip (jd) is made that way to be safe so as the car wont detonate at high rpm and high boost? can anyone conform this is correct?

Thats pretty similar to mine. I get about 9.5 10 afr on ful chat with 390bhp which is good for a rich map, ideally you want about 11.5 12afr. Should see alot of power increase with slightly less fuel. Yes richer is safer but not too much as you can run into borewash which is not good. Not sure how rich is borewash but you dont wanna go below 10thats for sure unless running in the big numbers which we are not.

are u running adjustable fuel pressure regulator??

Would having an afpr sort this problem without having to resort to a stand alone ecu?

you mean an adjustable fuel pressure reg?

im not too sure, yes it will work but i wouldnt like to try it that way without a wideband afr gauge giving me a realtime reading of whats going on at all times.

You can however have someone like john dixon customise a chip for you by just changing some of the properties so it runs a little less fuel at top end. But again youd really wanna keep an eye on your afr for safty as all engines are different and you dont really know how one might change.

Thanks for your answers!

But: Does nistune fix the problem, or do i need something like motec?

no idea...

My friend on the 200sx forum sells nistunes, but i dont think anyone from here runs a nistune ecu....

Hm, just wondering noone uses it, cause if i knew nistune 2 years before, ive saved lots of money.

No usual chiptuning, no new ecu for my new 555-setup etc.

Ok, you need a dyno, but if i didn´t had made a dyno, i had probably never found out,

almost 60 or more hp are missing :)

And now i know, a usual chip never runs good on a zed, ok, it runs rich enough, that no

car blows, but the losing of power is the bill for that...

Sorry again for my english :)

iam having same problem as u do 555cc larger tubs and chip = no good .. by the way what turbos u runing? try aem . here is member runing aem ..

Hi MJ,

I´m running modified stock tubs, other bearings and other turbine geometry

installed. Only good for about 400hp (1,15bar), but was a find deal :)

AEM looks quite good, but costs about 5xmore than nistune...

Sounds like a good idea but i think with all that hassle i would be better off biting the bullet and saving up for a new ecu and then have it custom mapped.

option1,

cheapest solution is a custom map in/for your stock computer

option 2,

middle solution is nistune, but you'd still need to have it custom mapped.

tbh. nistune is nice if you are constantly changing your own setup and know how to adjust/tune yourself...if not: option 1 is the one to choose

option3,

expensive solution is an aftermarket ECU, eg. AEM, VIPEC, etc.....and then have it custom mapped.

the last option is overkill on a semi stock car (imo)
