Hi guys,

I know this question has been asked several times and I've trawled the forums but can't find the perfect answer, so here goes again.

1. I have some remnants of an adhesive stuck to my dash which needs removing. In direct sunlight, it softens when the dash is hot but what is the best way to remove this safely, i.e. without damaging or melting the dash? It's above the air vents, on the soft part of the dash.

2. What is the best and safest method of removing the Fairlady sticker on the rear of the car? It's embarrassing!

3. Once (2) is done, where can I get a good quality replacement NISSAN sticker that looks genuine.

Thanks in anticipation.

Why is the fairlady sticker embarrasing..................because it says lady in it.

All cars are women mate.lol. Just lets people also now its an import!

Re removing the sticker of the dash, when i was a valeter, we used a product called tar and glue remover, dosent eat through anything, used to remove the stickers of old British gas van, simply wipe on, leave for a while ,and wipe off, then rinse.

Think halfrauds do a similar thing. but try it on a small area first out of sight on the dash to ensure it dosent react witht the plastic

Another is Amorall wipes in matt sold at halfrauds too.

If you have a guitar string use that, try and get it under the edge of the the sticker and do a saw motion, or put towels below the sticker and poor some hot water on it.

I used the guitar method to remove a spoiler once, took a bloody long time tho but was some serious bonding stuff was used for it.lol.

2. What is the best and safest method of removing the Fairlady sticker on the rear of the car? It's embarrassing! >> A hairdryer and a NEW Stanley blade (to get it started), then, once heated, it should just peel off. Then you may need some of the adhesive remover just to clean it up!

3. Once (2) is done, where can I get a good quality replacement NISSAN sticker that looks genuine. >> eBay, or buy an OEM 'NISSAN Fairlady' badge and cut off the 'Fairlady' part! VERY genuine looking then! ;)

Thanks in anticipation.

Hope that is of help to you

i used some methylated spirits to remove some old bits of glue and stuff on the dash (same place as yours, above the air vents)

Just thought of something else as well..... If the old adhesive is dryed-on, use Nail Varnish remover! Works a treat! ;)

(And before anyone says anything, NO I DO NOT use nail varnish ;) )

Halfords do a spray can for about £3 its called `STICKY STUFF REMOVER`, its very good

The best and only way is to use "lighter fuel petrol type " and that is from a Guy who fits and removes stickers for a living.Does not leave a sticky mess at all.

Get some "toulene". It s a non abrasive, plastic friendly, stain, glue remover, and on a plus side, added to your fuel at a ratio of 10%, it will act as an octane booster!!! Check robo's info for an indepth report on "toulene".

For the adhesive on the dash I would use furniture polish, it breaks do glue to a gel and wipes off, no worries about bleaching the plastic with a harsh chemical.

Thanks guys. Tried WD40 and it had a slight effect, not much. Will slowly work my way up the ladder. Furniture polish or nail varnish next!
