Hi Guys,

Need to pick your brains again - I am running a '92 TT Targa LWB Auto. Engine has been chipped and remapped (with SS Freeflow Nisstek Exhaust + induction kit soon) and is being worked on to get me a reliable 340Bhp. I currently still have the HICAS set up working and am running on stock 16 inch rims.

I want to tie down the handling a bit more as it just feels a bit detached and cumbersome through the twisty stuff though it does feel very secure at speed. Also I am getting a little bit of vibration under hard braking . I am looking to move to 18" rims to take out some side wall flex but would also look to a new suspension set up and am looking for some direction as I have no clue what to go for.

1) What suspension set up will give me that rare combination of firmer fast cornering while retaining a lot of the suppleness of the original set up (road surfaces around here are crap and I don't want a teeth chattering ride for the other 90% of my driving!!) This is my daily drive so this is important.

2) Will moving to 18" rims tighten the ride up enough?

3) Should I be looking to lock out the HICAS and what is the best way to go about doing it? What effect will this have on the handling?

4) Is there a LSD for the 300ZX and is it any good?

I was looking for Jeff at Zedworld to do the work as I trust his work implicitly but would listen to any recommendations if there is a suspension "guru" out there.

I am looking for a well balanced set up - not just to drop the car into the weeds - I am also NOT loking to make the car unusably stiff and understeery -

Any help and recommendations will be gratefully received.

leave the hicas on its fine. changing to 18"s wont make a noticeable difference. coilovers is the best way to go suspension wise. you have pm about coilovers

thanks for the coilovers info Yassa - I will have a chat to them.

Any ideas about an LSD?

You already have a LSD on :)

Coilovers are your best bet. Im going to be going for the HSD coilovers (LINK CLICKY) as they have the Smoothie ones which are designed more for Road use but still have all the benefits of Coilovers!

Also on the handling to get it abit sharper LOOSE WEIGHT!!! I swapped my Front seats for some aftermarket recliners and saved 30kgs!! Take out your spare tyre, A/C and your looking at well into 60+kgs of weight loss

Thanks for that Munny - The HSD's look cool and I will look into that

As far as the weight loss goes this is my daily drive at the moment and I do too many miles to lose my leather, aircon and spare!! I guess I am a "have your cake and eat it " kinda guy (lol)

On that note, I used to have a supercharged E39 M5 and I have never had a 1900Kg car that was so agile!! You gotta hand it to those guys from Munich - they do get iy right some times!!

As far as having an LSD - I have just remembered that my rear rubber is shot hell so that is probably why I can't feel it working properly

IMHO I would bin the hicas and fir the lock bar. I had a nightmare when my right side hicas arm came loose and unwound from the hicas rack, so to speak. Get it gone, lock it out, and your hard cornering will be fine!!
