after my suspension tuning ive noticed that i get a fair bit of scrubbage (esp. on the nearside front) when i travel over even slight bumps at speed. Chris (the suspension chap) and myself identified the main culprit as being the small rectangular bit of plastic near the top of the inner arch which houses one of the arch screws.

the problem is mainly from this one side as we also identified that my (far from genuine) bumper is very slightly closer to the tyre on the nearside than it is on the offside.

ive done a bit of research into arch rolling, but even though its only the inner arch im interested in, being a fibreglass bumper im worried about damage being done to it.

therefore tomorrow morning, weather permitting, im going outside armed with a hammer and seeing what fun i can get up to. my inner arches are (as far as im aware) all present and correct, so what mods have you guys done to your inner arch to house those precious fat tyres? :D

hi if going for the d,i,y arch roll get a tubuler pole and a block of wood ,put the wood across tyre and enter tube between ,put pressure on arch levering of wood and roll tube back and forth gently ,hitting with hammers and dollys can crack paint or create high spots ,gentle and slow is the way not the fast and furious as some like to think:

i spent a while this morning trying to identify the cause of the scrubbage - it looks like most of the inner arch lining from 11 oclock to 10 oclock is the cause, mainly where there is a small hardish rectangular part around one of the inner arch screws (this is all on the front nearside by the way, where the problem is definately is at its worst). i used a knife to cut out a small area around here, and i used a large metal file to reduce down a couple of bits of metal that were poking around needlessly.

ill not get a chance to see if this has made any difference until Tuesday, but it looks like it might have helped.

has anyone else gone to any lengths to remove or cut down their inner arch lining? where i have taken photos (apologies for the quality!), im able to use my thumb to push the lining a good inch or so upwards out of the way of the tyre.

also, has anyone relocated their coolant overflow bottle, as there's about a mouse's fart's gap between my tyre and the bottle, even though the bottle is indented!!!

spill the beans then!! :smash:

You have to go to your local magic shop and purchase a magic wand, there only £5 or so, when you get home you gota infuse the wand with the special arch rolling spell, you then tap each wing five times why saying, "et30 et20 i wanna offset to make girls dirty"

Wait 24hrs and your arches will be magically transformed, youl then be able to pull all the dirty ladies you've ever dreamed of.

James your a tit

Dave what i did was remove all the screws. i then forced the plactic arches behind the metal (where the screws went) then i tapped the metal up out of the way and by doing this it will also force the plastic up a little :)

bend the metal arch lugs back up towardss the top of the arch then put the plastic arch lining behind the lugs. I used my jack poll to roll the arches its pretty simple, but defo heat up the paint b4 and and while your doing it, keep twisting the poll till it travels all the way round the arch, use the wheel or tyre as your leverage point so it forces the arch to roll. IT was pretty easy for me to do as the tyre is so close to the arch, be careful not to scratch the lip of the wheels.

cheers Dave - i'll contact archenemy and see what they can do for me - id rather get a pro to do all four corners

your arches are not fg are they?

you can grind down any fg that is touching.

anyway from your pics its clear the tyre is touching the erch lug, easy to bend up, job done.

no just the bumper mate - stock wings.

lug - you mean where that screw is?

yeah that screw is in a lug which is part of the arch, you can easily bend it up and out the way with your fingers.

I have cut away the inner plastic arches on both front sides, removed the coolant overflow bottle and relocated a new washer bottle. I get no rubbing, and the airflow from the smic's can now flow freely, and maybe cool the brakes a little too. If you want some piccies, just let me know and i will post some here.

yeah post them up please ;)

The white plastic bottle is my new re-located washer bottle (small, i know, but it only serves the front screen, rear wiper removed). The inner arch piccies are the best i could do.
