About 7 years ago i had my 200sx in the Autotrader for 4 weeks, and local paper for 2 weeks, not a bean, soon as i put a For sale sign in the window on a busy street i sold it within 2 days for £3000.

Lucky? maybee ! but worked for me

Daz ;-)

Sean, give pistonheads a go, you know you want to come to the TT side, is it my fault for showing you what they are like..................:nana2:

I can't see any harm in putting a sign in the window, I sold a car once just doing that, and it doesn't cost much to try!

If you do though, make sure that the price is the biggest thing on the paper, and that it (the price) can be read without people having to stop. You don't need to put 'FOR SALE' in huge writing, cos if people can see a price they know it's for sale!. I can't understand why it is that 99% of signs you see just say 'For Sale' then you have to stop and go right up to it to see how much, if it tells you at all. If you don't show the price clearly I think you limit it to people who know they want your particular car (cos they're the only people that will go up and have a look regardless of price), but if you can see the price clearly, when people drive past the though 'I could afford that' goes through their head and makes them start to think about it when otherwise they wouldn't have.

Sorry, you've got me on one the bees that are in my bonnet!

As long as you expect twats to ring you when you are at traffic lights you'll be ok. Do us a favour though and put the price, I hate it when people dont put any price!!! lol rant over.

I believe people often dont put the price becuase its illegal. Its ok to put a for sale sign on a car, but if you put a price then it becomes trading in public without a license and can land you in trouble. (a bit like selling items out of a suitcase on a streetcorner without a trade license to do so)

Something like that anyway, its what I was told many years ago but never looked into it myself.

yes you are right it's illegal if you try to sell a car that parked on the road. the local council were i live will stick a large sticker over the for sale sign and that is very hard to get back off. I see one car with sticker's on every window

Well i think Autotrader best, had 2 cars on Pistonheads for ages, no joy, Autotrader 1 week both gone ! Definatly worth the money.
