its a fookin disgrace he was released in the first place but to recieve a hero's welcome is even worse, colonel gadafiy has even bought his family a villa

apperently he was released as he was dying of cancer, he shuld have died in a pile of his own shit, cremated (or chucked on a bonfire) and his ashes chucked in a bin (when cold so he couldnt cause anymore damage)

fookin disgrace he had no thought of the innocent family's he killed with the bomb and although he always protested his innocence he didnt refuse the hero's welcome and all the trimmings that the libaying government were offering

makes a complete mockery out of our justice sysytem and the morons running it, even obama condemed the decision to release him, america is one country we shouldnt piss off

i for one am disgusted at gordon brown for allowing this and even going to libiya to have talks with the leaders

new fookin alliance my ass, the guy should have been tortured to death to compesate the family of his victims

i may have missed some political aggenda but IMHO this is all wrong

about as tough as a rubber cock, boils my piss, i see people on a daily basis that have been let out early for variuos reasons but were in prison for serious crimes

they interviewed a soldier about it the other night and he said it all, why are we fighting against terriorists in afganistan and losing lots of soldiers for the "cause" then let out a convicted terrorist who killed over 200 people? the government have just pi55ed on all the dead soldiers graves with this blunder.

discrace, the tw@t should have rotted in a hole until he died

The way it sounded on the news is ,that it was the scots paliment, and that that gorden twat brown had no say in the matter , as well as keeping stum on his hols

pluss the vat

WTF was that waving Scottish flags all about!.

The incident was determined a Scottish one as it "landed" so to speak in a Scottish town, and he was imprisoned in a Scottish jail.

The fact that the man was convicted, in Holland by an International panel on dubious evidence supplied by the US during the case doesnt appear to enter into it.

Was he used as a scapegoat by Libya ? Many think so as Gadaffi had a sore point.

Previously, I think it was 85 or 86 the US sent 2 F111's over to drop leaflets on his palace (but the ordanance guys got mixed up and stuck some fook off bombs on instead). The Maltese prime minister informed the Libyans that the aircraft had entered thier airspace heading towards Tripoli. They evacuated the palace but 50 staff never made it. Included Gadaffi's daughter who was 2 years old at the time. His 2 sons were seriously injured as well.

Always another side to an argument tho.

Gadaffi and Libya were a major sponsor of terrorist groups at that time. They were behind the Abu Nidal group from the Palastine Liberation Front who hijacked the Achille Lauro cruise liner.

They bravely murdered a disabled American and shoved him over the side in his wheelchair.

Libyan secret agents were also behind the bombing of a disco in West Berlin where American service personnel were also killed.

On the military front, Libya had defied international convention and claimed the Gulf of Sidra and other parts of the Med as national waters and had actively engaged the US Navy at times.

Libyan scientists were also working with the Pakistani, AQ Khan, who had developed their nuclear weapons.

Ronald Regan had had enough. Gadaffi wasn't the negotiating type at that time so a clear message was sent. If you continue to fook about, you will get it big time.

Terrorism, big problem with a few answers.

There's only a few limited options with terrorists. You can ignore them and hope the stop. You can give them what they demand like Labour did with the IRA. Or, you can kill them.

Look at the situation in Afghanistan now. This will become our Vietnam. We should do the same there. Either give them what they want or kill them all.

Initial point was tho, it was a disgrace to set him free ?

I dont know, setting all feelings aside, was he the one, or is it that he took the fall and we were desperate to find a subject to aim our feelings at ?

I am an American vehicle owner as a few of you may know, and I frequent a number of American car forums. Tell you one thing, the Scots have went down a few rungs in their ladder over the past few days !:(

Have a look at this shite for example ! http://www.boycottscotland.com/

One argument is that Libya have loads of oil and we are in there with a shout ? He was used as a political pawn. Our government wouldnt stoop that low, surely ? Aye, right enough !

Sorry if I have offended any race/creed/party with the above ramblings, but tough. I wonder if any of our soldiers currently out there in Afghanistan are thinking to their selves "whats the fukin point" ??

Anyways, me sig says how I feel.

Nail on the head...

Tell me about it. I work for Lockheed Martin, and the customer is the US Army - thank fook I have a month off.

Normally when I meet new folks, they are keen to point out some distant relation that passed through Scotland, tell me that makes us "blood" and ask me if I support "Rangers or Celtic".

Its usually a pain in the arse, but a good way to break the ice. Now all I get is questions regarding "that rag head that blew up our plane".

I actually sat and watched the protracted, drawn out media circus of a presentation that twat of a minister made when the decicion was announced.

I can understand some points being valid, although I disagree completely with the resulting release.

There were various legal rights made available by the (then) Home Secretary (Jack Straw?) that would have required an exclusion to be made by the Home Office to deny them to ANY prisoner.

Remember, at that time, the Scottish Government :xxx: were no less puppets of Westminster than they are now - the Scottish Government is effectively just a big **** off council. So we shut up and followed orders.

Fast forward a few years, and Scotland now has its own Home Secretary. Having bounced appeals etc through the legal system for years, bomber is now found to be terminally ill.

Scots law (as in English law) makes allowances for "compassionate release" - hence the situation with Biggs, and now this ****.

The problem is alleged to be that these rights were not taken away from the outset.

What I don't get is why the ****er was never just released into general population in Greenock. That would have sorted things out sharpish, and saved the tax payer a fortune.

I just want to say that in no way was that a decision taken by or endorsed by the people of Scotland, or of the UK as a whole.

The same month that has seen the highest losses incurred against UK troops as the fight the "War on Terror" has also seen us release the biggest mass murderer in UK peace time.

I spent a few days shitting bricks a couple of weeks back. By Brother is in 1 Para, the unit that lost just 3 guys, and it tears your world inside out waiting for the names to be released. It doesn't make it any easier when it is not your loved one - all over the UK families are waiting every time they see the news, hoping it is someone else, feeling guilty whn it is.

One of the Army mechanics I know from 172nd FSB (my day job) has just been killed in Iraq -RPG while he slept.

I, and many friends and colleagues have been in the sand supporting this fight, and I may be going to Afghanistan in a few weeks.

It disgusts me that this is all in the name of fighting terrorists, when our stupid, weak, spineless Government allow shit heads like him to walk free.

I can't even be bothered to start on the lack of support, funding, and equipment for the guys who need it. There is nothing more shameful than seeing a man who knows this could be his last time out the fence sitting reading front page stories about MPs expenses before he climbs into a woefully inadequate vehicle to go on a half-strength patrol.

Once again, sorry for the rant. I don't usually say much, but this is a case where truly, as they say, my piss is boiling.

Here speaks a man who should be applauded !:bow:

Thanks for adding your views mate, I cant really comment as I have no experience in any way of the Armed Forces. But they all have my complete admiration !:)

Like yourself, I dont normally get involved in any discussions involving Politics, Football, Religion or even knitting, as I have no knoweledge of any of it, so therefore dont consider myself in a position to rant on about something I know nothing about.

My Journeyman used to say that if you cant be a player, be a spectator.

Alan.................

  • 3 weeks later...

got a nice reposte to the americans who disagree with the scots on this issue

..so lets take massive numbers of murdered civilians...find a man guilty...send him to life in jail...then release him after 2 days to huge outrage.....who was that...oh it was Lt Calley guilty of the My Lai massacre in vietnam....memories can be so short sometimes

funnily enough he has only just spoken about it....

On August 19, 2009, Lt. Calley made his first public apology for the massacre in a speech to the Kiwanis club of Greater Columbus Georgia.

"There is not a day that goes by that I do not feel remorse for what happened that day in My Lai," William L. Calley told members of a local Kiwanis Club. "I feel remorse for the Vietnamese who were killed, for their families, for the American soldiers involved and their families. I am very sorry."
