I bought a new battery on the 16th July and it died on the 19th Aug, I tried to jump start it but nothing, took it back to the supplier and they tested it with 3 different types of meters and got absolutely no reading whatsoever?

They have kindly replaced it and I have checked all fuses in the three boxes on the car and they all appear to be okay?

I have fitted the battery to the car and it started first time all working as should, however I have tested it on idle and the reading is 12.3v (Electrics thread say's should be between 14-14.5v)?

I have switched on blower, lights, fogs, rear window demister and fogs, this results in the meter reading 11.9v (again the electrics thread states should be between 14-14.5v)?

I urgently need help as being currently unemployed I can't afford to have to replace the battery again, I have spent all my savings getting it mot'd and taxed.

I'm in Coventry, if anyone is around the area?

Thanks in advance for any help on this matter.

Are there any easy checks that I can do to be sure?

Any idea how much one costs?

Desperate, need to travel to Scotland mid-week?

like you said..if you hook up a new bazzery to a voltmeter you should get 12 volts..when the alternator is charging you get a reading of 14 to 14.5 volts, if your voltmeter goes to just above 12 and then when you use electrical items drops to below 12 ( with engine running ) I´d say alternator isn´t charging.

you can pick one up for about 40 quid on ebay..or try someone on here that´s breaking one. as for changing, no idea mate, that´s a part I haven´t had to change yet :)
