Hello,

I have just taken my Z to be mot'd and it has failed on bad emissions,

After I let a mechanic have a quick look he told me that the most likely problem was the the cat was knackered.

I belive that the car is running rich so is it possible that the car just needs a good service.

If it is the cat, is it best to replace with orignal Nissan or is there a good after market one?

Any info or ideas would be gratefully appreciated.

i dont think its going to be the cats.

 

the Z isnt on the list/too old for the cars that require that.

 

many decat and still pass MOT

The car could be poorly set up and maybe the 02 sensors are not working properly.

check your o2 sensors, there is an ecu diagnostic(easy to do) that will check them both and tell you if they are working

if i pop the car down, will you be able to test why im running so rich?

(know it tests the o2 sensors)
