Found i have a little time in the latter end of the evening these days (none any other time lol) and instead of sitting on my bum watching TV and surfing the internet i am making a start on the many things i have piled up relating to my zed.

Tonight i started prepping my vented bonnet and matching headlight panel. Wash, rub down, bit of filler and then smoothing off etc...

I've also got a pair of side skirts making their way to me with some door fillers. This to will need prepping and spraying etc.......

Got a pair of 99 spec headlight inserts which need painting one way or another (still undecided which route to take with them). Then they will need putting in my spare pair of headlights.

Got a spare set of rear lights which i plan on 99ing. Gonna do a proper job like Sussex stu, he has really done a top notch job and inspired me to replace my cracked sh1tty ones with some perfect ones. Gonna do the 300ZX logo in red indiglo also.

I also have to take my front bumper off for a proper painting this time. When i fitted it i had to do a quick job to get it on the car, but i now want to rub it all down and get it perfect.

And lastly (that i can think of lol) i have the boot build i bought of 8ace to prep and fit. Gotta cover it, get everything wired up and then fit it all in and get it looking sweet.

So who else is working on their zed - what you doing to it??? :)

Isaac

Shurrup Daz it looks the nutz in green and you know it :D

I will be doing my new un in red tho so i won't say anymore

Well two weeks ago I dropped the engine and box out of my next Z. Its a much lower mileage (70k) UK graphite grey TT Targa (much like what I already have!). The head gasket had gone and I wanted to do a few other bits to it.

After a two week break I commenced the work again last Saturday. I stripped the engine down to replace the head gaskets with Stainless steel cometic ones instead of the cheap sh... rubbish which was on there before. I know they were cheap crap as this car was actually owned by my brother 4 years ago and he sold it after replacing the head gaskets and having them go again. They may as well of been made of cork!

Anyway, with the engine out, I thought I may as well go ahead and replace the clutch with a Z1 street clutch, install a Z1 lightened flywheel, thrust bearing and chromoly ball, along with a braided clutch line. Whilst there, I also treated it to some split down pipes and new exhaust gaskets throughout.

I'd read a fair few people mensioning a plenum bypass and EGR removal being worth while so commenced with both of these mini projects. Made everything a lot simpler to look at thats for sure!

After putting everything back together I treated her to a new timing belt and idlers to boot :D

Once I had it all back together on the floor, I began the task of putting it all back in. With a little help from the girlfriend on the engine hoist (a little nerveracking when lieing underneath!) we lowered it all eventlessly back in :)

Thats where we left it last night, to begin plugging it all back in this morning.

Today's gone alright with getting it all back connected (as far as Im aware) with the new decats in place - SHINY! Got to the PAS pump though and all went to c*ck, could I get the little beggar back in?! no... so I gave up for the evening before I broke something...

To be continued on thursday! Should have her running and moving around again all being well, ready to install the new boost controller and change the wheels over (Rota Drift GTR's :D)...

My turbos are on the way out so gonna be lifting the engine out in the next few weeks to either do rebuild or upgrade of turbos :)

Going to attack the removal of the skirts very soon and underseal the zed, then a bit of interior work...

Issac i knew you had bought the lights and thought "whats he doing with them?" if you wany any advice re the 99 spec rears, pm me your number and i im happy to help.

Stu

My new LWB is at Jimmer's right now having an engine swap.

Once i get her home, a 99-spec front end, taking the veilside kit to the scrapyard and putting a 99-spec rear end on it :D

Just given her a service and changed the manual gearbox oil and front discs and pads, and finally having a clutch booster fitted at Jeffs in a couple of weeks:)
