Recently fitted a new stereo and now when I put the radio on the aerial doesn't come up. Could I have a coule of wires around the wrong way or something? The radio thing is plugged in.

Thanks

You should have a wire, usually yellow, i think they write on it 'accessory' or 'remote' which is usually for an amp. If you can find the wire for you aerial and connect it to one of them, should work, I think :-)

ive copied it so can you open this Lee??

There is usually 2 blue wires, 1 is for accessory which as said before normally has it written on it, and the other for power aerial. If the 2 are connected the wrong way it wont work.

Made this error myself once :rofl:

Hope that helps, Rob

The free wires that are coming out of the back of the head unit are...

I have a blue wire that is labelled 'BACK' (there's no other blue ones)

I have a yellow wire that says AMP 12V

I have a Red wire that says CAM 12V

I think its still the blue, the yellow is the remote for the amp, that carries the signal from the head unit to the amp.

The red that says cam im not sure about to be honest, ive only ever seen red as the power wire.

Sorry cant be more help, have you tried the manufacturer website?

I have found the electric aerial (car end) and there is no wire connecting to it at the radio/iso end so this i the problem but I dont know which wire I need to connect to it. There is this blue one which would make sense as its the only free wire but its labelled Back which is confusing.

whats the model of the headunit?

If you have the same in car wiring as mine, the 10 pin connector has the electric aerial wire (centre wire, opposite side to the latch on the connector. I think it's black)

The blue wire from your head unit is the electric aerial, I've just checked on a wiring set up I have, Just connect Blue to Back

On mine the electric aaerial cable is orange and white. So do I need to connect the blue 'back' wire to this?

Hi Lee, which one did you get in the end mate?

The electric aerial wire should be part of the ISO connector: "A5-Antenna Power"

The free wire coming out of the radio is probably for the handbrake or the reversing camera.

Haven't you got a diagram in the manual?

All i can say is on my JSpec series 2, the antenna coming out of the loom into the block connector is the centre wire, opposite side to the catch on the largest connector (10 pins)

On mine this wire is black

a standard ISO head unit has the aerial feed next to the ignition feed wire (red) and on mine the aerial feed is blue

What colour is the Centre wire, opposite side to the catch on your 10 pin block coming from the loom. And is it currently connected to anything?

Tango, Im confused, I have a wire there that is labelled Electric Aerial (orange and white), This is the only one not connected... Looking at my cables from the Sony unit I took out this was connected to a blue wire and there is a number 5 next to it...

Sorry if im being thick guys

Dunno about Zfest or JAE yet mate, you know how lazy I am LOL.

I see why you're confused though: "4 Blue BACK". Doesn't really explain what it's for.

Here's the diagram from my manual, shows the Iso connector.

Was the Sony unit plugged in to an Iso>Nissan adapter?

Edited by Graham S

Does it just supply a +ve signal when on then?

i'm guestimating a bit but i would say:

yellow "amp" is a switched 12v feed to tell external amps to switch on, can also be used for electric aerials

red "camera" is for connecting to reversing switch to change screen to rearview camera (although i'm a bit concerned that it says "camera power")

blue " back" could be "backlight" ie connect to illumination circuit or if "camera power" is actually 12v to power a camera then "back" may be the switch screen to camera input

bit difficult to say for sure without a meter or a better look at the instructions

Lee, is this your one?

vbpgimage.php?do=full&p=4257&d=1252184633

Then this is your cable?

vbpgimage.php?do=full&p=4259&d=1252184958

Looking at a different Xtrons unit it shows the loose wires as:

Blue = Antenna power

Orange = Brake on

Brown = Amp Control

Pink = Rear camera control.

They all seem to be different. The only real test would be to stick a meter on the wires and see.:(

The way mine came was slightly different, one end plugs into the stereo and at the other end is not the 2 separate connectors its one day one that you put the 2 from your zed into

Just a slightly different style of Iso connector. The wiring in it is standard.
