My OEM rod bearings just broke down. Engine out,- once again.

I guess there is a lot of knowledge on the forum what type of bearings that are the best.

Someone out there with names on the best bearing experts ?

What does your build consist of? What power are you taking out of the engine? Have you broken the OEM bearings? Have you had any stress-test on the ACL-bearings to measure what they can take of power?

My engine is going in next week (i hope) and consists of

Greddy TD05 18G turbos

Pentroof manifolds

Sard 850cc injectors

Border fuel rail

Tomie 260 deg camshafts with solid lifters and hardened springs

Wiseco pistons

Eagle rods

AEM ECU

The ACL bearings have had good results across the pond and as far as i know are a race bearing so should be up to the job:D

I have nearly the same setup as you except from: Turbos:

Turbonetic T04B/46 - BB-5 KKK10 (530 HP each), JE pistons, and stage 4 heads (from SGP) with larger valves. One extra feature is added to the turbos: porting of the exhaust turbine, this eliminates backpressure. At 1,65 bar I got 826 flywheel BHP of the engine. At 2,1 bar the AOM bearings broke.

So now I am investigating which bearings are the best.

I understand that you have not stressed your engine or tested in the DYNO?

Thats right jorgen the engine goes in next week im only waiting for the turbo inlet pipes to be deliverd and fingers crossed it should be finished.

As i said the ACL have a good write up they are a white metal race bearing.

With that much power i would try them.

Well; I`ll cross fingers. Tuning in the dyno will take quite a long time, do not stress the engine above 8000 rpm, that is my recommendation. Give it very fat fuel on high rpm. Let me know how you you ended with the power.

Cheers Jorgen will do and good luck with your bearings
