Watch the reaction this gets...............

Definitely flush it. Use only a good flush I would recommend a certain one but as I sell it for a living people will think im touting it so im not going to name it.

Guaranteed every man and his dog will have an opinion on this and most will say no as it causes damage yadda, yadda, yadda. At the end of the day in my opinion the only problem you will have is if your engine is knackered before you do it.

We have 100 reps on the road all selling around 800 bottles of flush a month so that's 80,000 a month and we have little or no problems at all.

I have just flushed mine, no probs, also flushed my 180,000 mile Porsche 928 with no problems.

iam with you on this one mike.

just did mine last saturday.nissan say 5/30 so that is what i put in mine.

used it in all my skylines for years with no probs.

yup engine flushes are good, done mine before and it made a big difference, i would buy some cheap oil, drop the old oil out of the car, put cheap oil in (leave old filter in place, run it for a day or so with new oil, then when going to do the oil change, let the oil warm up and then add the flush treatment, let it run for 10-15mins, then drop oil out, change filter and put new decent oil in (thats what i did)

I did this to solve my Tappets and did the trick! Well worth the £40 i paid for the Engine flush oil!Engine sounds so much Quieter now! Not even loud ticking injectors :D

have read a few old threads, which say not to do it

Forte??

Yep

Yep

Great stuff buddie........ A mate of mine who is a mechanic flushes with it with every oil change he does.... he swears by it ( Does the old compression test before and after:bow:)

Thats the way, the compression test usually does the trick to persuade people it works.

Thanks for the vote.

So whats it called FFS, its not a risk to national security.

I mentioned using an engine flush to Luke at the Zcentre way back when I first got my zed, as it was always something I'd done to my cars and remember he was pretty much horrified when I did! If I remember rightly, I think his concerns were down to the viscosity of the oil being too thin for the turbo seals and causing damage to them? It's been a long time since the conversation, but remember it was enough to scare me into never running the risk! I still have that carton of engine flush in my garage! :)

Can someone briefly explain to me how an engine flush is going to improve (I guess thats what is being hinted at) the engine compression.

Vinz the names posted a couple above yours its Forte.

The main problem is that as everyone knows oil degrades in an engine and bores glaze with tars and varnishes. the flush will clean the bores, rings, lifters etc. How many people moan about sticking, noisy lifters.

Also and most importantly in my eyes is that when you drain the oil out of an engine you never get it all out, a percentage remains in the galleries etc. This is acidic. A decent flush will neutralize the acid in any oil left in the engine.

Basically you aren't putting clean oil in a dirty engine.

However...... some flushes are very, very thin and solvent based with very little lubricity. Ours isn't like that, even though its thin enough to clean it has very good lubricity.

HTH in some way any more questions fire away but sadly im very anoracky about it all.

maybe im missing something but what brand/type of engine flush was u referring to?

Think this stuffs ok on a well looked after low mileage motor, but i'm not a great believer in any flush if your engines old + or over 'low mileage' it can lift all that horrid varnish + deposits that build up + deposit it where you dont want it.

Far better to put a cheap oil in, run it for a short time, dump it out then put good oil in.

modern oil has detergents in anyway.

So without starting a slanging match what makes you say this and what experience do you have to state that its better to put a cheap oil in etc? Is it based on fact or rumour.

Before you answer keep in mind that many of these rumours of problems that may have happened 20-30 years ago with flushes in engines that would now be considered to be classics. Technology has changed in the make up all products.

From fuels, to lubricants, flushes indeed all products.

Mike

well i know that its better to use a flush in new cars, there os a renault (not sure which one) develops probs and once or twice a rebuild has been required due to carbon build up and scoring of parts, the mechanics are told to use a flush on every oil change and now they dont get the probs with new cars anymore

Not slanging or owwt, but just based on my experience of working on older cars+ seeing old cars with dead cranks from oil supply problems.

i repeat, should not be a problem in a well looked after engine, benefits are obvious.

i was dubious using it on my old zed, but i done it and it did run smoother (till it blew up lol)

and it blew up because?

the bottom end was gone then the new owner bought it and drove it to destruction lol

had nothing to do with the flush
