is this much of a job

I've got the chance to pick up a N/A manual for peanuts. All seems OK apart from above the windscreen, the panel between that and the targas has a huge crack in it. To the extent that you could peal a chunk out.

Also the speedo says MPH, but the guy recons it is reading KMH.

Apart from that there is some surface rust around the wing and the filler cap & Driver window are faulty

i would say keep ya cash and have a look at that one insunderland, really was a nice motor with a shedload of reciepts

depends how much peanuts is, and whether you would be hankering after a TT if you got it ;)

Just to put some perspective on it. I bought a bike for £400 which he will swap for.

I'm thinking mechanically sound 1993 N/A Manual for £400

sounds ok for that money! Have you seen this crack in the roof panel how did it happen?

says it was like that when he got it. he's owned it for 7 months. Said he was gonna cover it with a carbon plate. LOL. Obviouslty a bit of a cowboy. But the car seems sound apart from that.

After market exhausts which sound mint

Ok...the guy wants to do a deal but says the log book it with his mate (apparently they are both dealers and he keeps the docs)

Now I can collect it from his house, he has all the old MOT's and other docs. Am I taking any form of risk here.

dont do any deals without a log book mate, nothing is binding til you send off the new keepers supplement

You got a picture of that crack? And yeah, do nothing till you've got the log book infront of ya, might wanna check the vin number too whilst your at it, does no harm....

I dont think its too much of a risk without the logbook, get a hpi check run to make sure it isnt stolen if you want but the story sounds feasible. Or just wait til he has the V5.

leaving it until tomorrow to see if he gets the book. Strangely (his mate) the bloke it's with is a friend of our lasses family.

Worst case scenario It's a swap for my bike so he don't get my book until I get his.

I've also ran a HPI and it's all clear. I also called the DVLA who despite DPA were quite forthcoming about the registered address and whether there was any police interest etc.......

but if he hands cash over and no log book, he aint got a leg to stand on if the owner decides to report it as stolen, also isnt bigman having a nightmare with a car he bought with no log book

i bought a zed last month with no logbook , did a text check+ rang dvla peterborough(my local one, like you no police interest) book arrived just over 3 weeks after purchase.

If its taxed/sorned you are ok, if its not its a load of hassle as cant be taxed till logbook/reminder is in your hand.

With a signed dated receipt , i dont see any problem.

Will get a pic up when I get it mate. However its about 8 inched across and it's forming a circle now. Looks like its about ready to join two ends and fall off.

My cncern is that it's not a panel you can just replace (or is it)
