Yes, it's true, Detective Jeff has solved the mystery...again!

The issues with my new Z (new to me anyway) and documented in a separate thread, but after pondering whether to make the long journey from Basingstoke to Tamworth, I finally decided to take the plunge today and was not disappointed.

Jeff fans abound on this forum and for good reason. His knowledge, professionalism and attitude is second to none and he deserves all the success he gets.

I drove away with a completely different car to the one I came in with.

My problems were:

- Engine lacked power below 4000 revs and was hesitant.

- The who car vibrated at times.

- The rear suspension wallowed and bounced around.

The engine issue was obviously the biggest and after hooking up the PC, he immediately identified it as a timing issue. He resolved this by first bypassing the knock/detonation sensor (it's a NA to not an issue) and then reset the timing to the correct value. The difference was immediate!

New rear shocks and new gearbox bushes later, i now have a car that is fast, smooth, and with the new shocks and gear bushes, very tight and controllable.

Perfect!

On a side note, I have to express my disappointed with ZTech. I visited them a month ago and even though they spent much longer than Jeff asessing the car, their summary was:

- Cambelt not on correctly, hence why the timing is wrong.

- Shocks are gone, but the rear springs are also broken!

I was very suspicious of both of the above, especially the cambelt. My logic was simple; when the cambelt was changed by the previous owner 30-40,000 miles ago, why did he not notice the huge performance dip and go straight back to the garage?

Anyway, great job Jeff and I would urge anyone with any issues to visit Jeff, no matter how far.

ive only had mine a week and have spoken to zedworld a couple of times and they are the most helpfull guys ever :duffer:

I can only agree with Pervez -

Jeff and Jamie at Zedworld are the absolute TOPS in my book - They are so helpful and knowledgable. Trust them with your life (or even worse... with your Zed!!)

Great work guys!!

I have to agree as well......

.......I'm a Z-world convert and will take mine there for anything other than the routine fluid changes in future.

It's worth the 200 mile round trip for me to know that my Z is in safe, knowledgeable hands!

Richard:)

I have something to say............ It's better to burn out than to fade away..... :tt2:

took my first zed to jeff many years ago,and will always take it back there:bow:

I don't have a zed yet but spoke to Jeff today about a car that had been serviced at his place and they were absolutely fantastic, full of information and nothing was too much bother to find out for me and answer. Really impressive :-)

Am off to Zedworld for my first ever visit tomorrow - new cambelt and diagnosis time!

Will be able to drive my car without fear of the engine getting mullered!

Come on lad's, let's not forget Lynda's tea, coffee and biscuits:bow:

I use Phil dickinson ( now at blackmoor service station, astley, manchester). Found him to be excellent & an enthusiast. Has anyone used him & jeff at zedworld/ interested in a comparison. Phil is only 20 mins from me so there is a convenience issue!!

how you going to compare, have a build off and film it lol. Zed world are great, so is Phil in your experience so fair enough.

Ok I can answer it, we pass work on to Phil when we are too busy, we do not do this lightly either.

Phil and myself have spoken many, many times and he always fills me with confidence, he knows what he is best at and sticks to it, final tuning and engine setting up he tends to pass back to us, but big long term jobs he is good at such shell swaps also good at finishing off unfinished projects etc.

Jeff TT

I have taken my Zed to Jeff since I bought it, apart from mot and emergency radiator change after it went on the way to a family emergency in Scotland last year.

I may add that I was supplied the radiator from Zedworld, and it was couriered within 24 hours, I could never thank them enough for the help they gave me.

My zed is having a new alternator done on tuesday, prior to my relocating back North and will always recommend Jeff and Zedworld.

Good Work Fella's and Linda
