Hi

Today I bought a 300zx Turbo (my first Nissan although have now owned over 80 cars) which when I turned up to view, the guy was working on. Turned out the car had popped a fuse on the injector circuit and when swapped for another fuse, started but misfired. The guy took it to his friends garage to discover a faulty connector on one of the injectors - I guess it must have shorted to take a fuse out?

The car drove fine all the way home, but I noticed that it was too eager to kick down (auto) at 50 although just lightly touching the accelerator pedal to keep the speed constant - is this just an adjustment on the kick down cable?

I'd also like to get some blinds or shades for the targa roof as it was blinding with the sun out through the roof!

The exhaust is a stainless Z32 decat system which has been replaced from the turbo's back (20/04/2009 £432) which is too noisy for my liking - does anyone have a quad outlet which is an upgrade from the original they'd like to swap?

I was also told that I have a stage two chip installed - the guy gave me a stage 3 which he was given with the car - what are the thoughts on swapping this over, or is it likely to be static damaged being handled with no anti-static bag?

Lastly is the passenger door not locking with the remote etc - is this a common fault?

Cheers for any help in advance for any help.

It should have these but you can get them easily.

?

Easy to change

Tell your insurer!! They'll want more dosh from you. What boost is it running?

Probably just lack of use. Use the key in the lock and some lub spray in the lock. Mine did this as well. I find I have to check from time to time that it is locking. Alarm still works as you hear it well when the door opens after you thought it was locked.

they are a "sporty" autobox so they can be quite eager to change down. IIRC they have a kickdown switch not a cable. Also when using the term kickdown do you mean kickdown, is it shooting into the lowest possible gear? Like at 50 it would want to go into 2nd if you used kickdown. If its mearly changing down then thats okay.

One way to stop it being so "enthusiastic" (and if you have a Jap import) is to use the "Hold mode" on the auto box, there is a little switch to the top right of the auto selector with "power", "normal" and "hold" modes, see this as a winter/normal/sport settings. Hold stops it revving hard ingear and makes it much more docile, also I think the car will set of in 2nd if you use hold.

(although once again this is ONLY on Jap imports!)

Just a word of advice that your post will probably get altered by a mod if you are wanting to buy stuff or swap with members without being a subscribed user. Its well worth signing up and you'll get all the help you need. And I have some blinds you can buy off me then and a quad system I may be interested in swapping with you.

Thanks for all the help.

Willie: I've no idea what boost it's running or how to find out? I've searched for blinds on ebay but can't find anything.

Quavey: The box is kicking down, but only to the next available lower gear, but literally, you only have to touch the pedal for the constant changing up & down.

Baz: Ta for the warning. Sounds good re: the blinds and exhaust, what does it depend upon regarding the swap? Subscribing seems like a good idea too...

I'd probably ignore the chips. A 'stage' doesn't really mean an awful lot. You're probably better off fitting a good known chip from one of the forum traders on here.

^ Agreed. If the seller is talking to you about "stages" then bin them. Stages are meaningless, so you have no idea what they are setup for.

The remapped chips are intended to provide safe and accurate fuelling for Increased boost based on your current setup. If just running basic breathing mods - Induction kit, exhaust , then an off-the-shelf chip is all that's needed.

Speak to John Dixon, AndyP, DTA or Zedworld for a new chip based on your current spec. Price is around 100pounds fitted.

Boost is then increased with either a Electronic boost controller or Boost jets. 1bar /14psi is the recommended safe limit to increase to with stock injectors.

I had a skyline auto earlier this year and around 50mph it kept changing gear but only at that point. I think its just where the rev point is where it is dropping down a gear, does it happen any other time or speed? do you have an email I can contact you on I shall send you a picture of my exhaust set up.

The random changing could possibly be the Throttle position sensor (TPS) I think theres a guide in the FAQ section on how to set it up.
