I put a deposit on a Zed that looked mint, seemed perfect and was due to pick up on thursday pending another test drive etc. Talked him down to well under £1500, so was cautious anyway; got a message today to say not to pick up as it had blown a cylinder through the side of the block!

ever heard of this happening on a Zed? or did he just change his mind about selling? :(

A bit gutted as I was looking forward to it despite needing a bit of work.. might have to pick up something like a volvo to do me for now as an 'emergency' car for the next few weeks :headvswal

He maybe got a better offer

I was thinking that mate, he's asked if I want it as is though. not sure if to offer to take it off his hands though as it'd need a new engine I'm guessing; not familiar with the zx's but have seen TT lumps going on ebay for £200-350.. any advice??

If you can find a mint Zed for £1500 then I would say there has to be something wrong with it you have not noticed !

I bought a zed with a fooked engine for 2k. Currently getting it rebuilt.

People get put off these cars because of the look of the engine, looks really complicated etc. But if you have the guts to buy a zed with a nackered engine and get it rebuilt then you going to have a bargain zed with a stronger engien than new.

If you get it cheap enough and you like it go for it.

Bet it was a complete shitter! Some people's idea of 'mint' is hilarious....lot of adverts I have seen have said 'mint, except for a bit of rust on the arch, stone chips and a broken wing mirror'. Or, 'Mint interior, except usual wear on driver's bolster'.
