I had to have the AA out a week and a bit ago when I was on holiday because my starter motor went. I was really impressed how quickly the chap arrived (about 15 mins) and also the fact that he managed to do a tempory rebuild of my written off starter motor in the middle of a camping field such that it could get me going again.

However, a couple of days later I noticed that my offside wing was sitting noticably proud of the door when looking down the side of the car. I looked further and saw that the car had obviously been jacked up 'on' the seam where the wing joins to the floor pan. The seam is now completely bent over, and the panels underneath are badly dented which has pushed the whole wing out of alignment.

I phoned the AA this morning (it seems crazy but it's the first chance I've had since) and they are sending a claim form, but I don't know whether I'll get anywhere as I can't see how I can really prove that it was the AA chap that did it. Has anyone had a similar experience? Any ideas of how I could prove it was the AA chap that did it? (I know myself it was definitly him as it hasn't always been like that, I've never jacked it up myself, and the only other people that have are Zedworld, who I'm failrly sure will know how to do it without causing damage!)

No worries, the car is actually at a local body shop at the moment for a quote on the job, so I'll let you know what they say tomorrow hopefully.

Hi Phill, this is a very common occurance and we see it all of the time and as you mentioned is caused by trolley jacks incorrectly placed. When the sill section pushes up as it is not designed to take the weight of the car at that point the front wing pops out.

Good news it is relatively easy to repair / correct, simple put by undoing the wing at the bottom ( 2 x 10mm bolts ) the sill can then be straightened and then the wing will fit back and once again be level with the door.

If it is bugging you feel free to call me and will get it on the ramp and sort it for you FOC.

Cheers

Jeff

Thanks Jeff, that's very good of you.

I'll see how I get on with the AA first, but if necessary I'll get back to you.

Thanks, Phill
